With Milan apparently out, and Ade's agent mouthing off again about there having been "a love story between Adebayor and Arsenal and his relationship with Arsène Wenger is based on trust and respect" but that "It is vital that Arsenal show their motivation [i.e., pay loads of cash] to keep him", perhaps the club should withdraw the improved contract from Ade. Send him and his pig of an agent away, tell Ade he's to report for training on time and continue to insist on £30m purchase price from Barca. Perhaps Ade will get the message then.

Why can't we follow Villa's example with their want-a-way player? I doubt Adebayor was authorised to spout all that crap about AC and Barca.

I cant ever see Adebayor playing for Arsenal again, but we have to be careful if Barca are the only club interested in him if we price him out of Barca"s valuation we will be stuck with a player whose heart is not in the club.Personally i think £24m is more than enough for him :banghead:

I too would accept somewhere in the £25m-£27m price range and would be well pissed off if we are stuck with him :x :banghead: :banghead:

Is it coincidence that david villa has decided to stay with valencia after it was declared that we wont be bidding for him ? He did express an interest in joining us after all

any view on this?

Post by rtpgooner »

Adebayor has had a lot to say since the end of the season. Just after the season had ended, it was almost 2 statements saying he was staying in two months from him published on arsenal.com. Now the £ seems to have turned his head. 1 part of the article i do agree with, is that on only £35,000 a week are we asking for trouble? Look at torres on £100,000 a week scored same amount as ade, but ade is on 1/3 of torres wages? i think he should be on £50-60k a week. Seems by the statements he has made, it maybe too little to late for a u-turn certainly with the fans, but what do you think wenger has in mind? anyone agree? thinking about it from his point of view? My view, ONLY sell him if villa replaces him. i feel only he is capable.

Look like he'll be staying now unless Barca sell Eto'o and Ronaldinho for a good price. As Milan have been priced out it seems and Barca have just spent near 25mil on Alves.

Obviously this whole situation is a mess and a total f*ckup by Ade and his agents/advisors, especially as it looks increasingly unlikely that he's leaving.

I think there is only one thing us the supporters can do on matchday:

WE HAVE TO STOP SINGING ADE's SONG...EVEN WHEN HE SCORES FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Personally I think having such a good and worshippy song so soon in his career at the club was a BIG mistake. The goals and the song went to his head. I go to the Tollingtons after nearly every home game, Ade consistently use to drive home past the pub, he would always slow down as the pub sang his song, on a couple of occassions he joined in the singing - SINGING HIS OWN BLOODY SONG.

If people constantly hype you, eventually you begin to believe the hype. We the fans were guilty of helping fan the flames of his arrogance, SO LET'S STOP IT NOW.

I don't get it, his agent saying today Arsenal need to demonstrate their desire to keep him, Wenger has already said he will be an Arsenal player next season, is that not enough desire!? Also saying Adebayor ain't greedy, so what is he complaining about!?! Wish he'd just leave!!
