I looked for a "Welcome Aaron Ramsdale" thread but there doesn't seem to be one,.

I know 99% of Gooners were pre-judging him and the club for signing him (£23 Million), but he has turned out to be the best keeper we have had since spunky.

He has quite simply been superb.

Sky Sports report Ainsley Maitland-Niles is close to reaching an agreement to join Roma on loan for the rest of the season. The feeling at Roma is Mourinho will be able to help Maitland-Niles rediscover his best form, as has happened with Tammy Abraham. https://t.co/w2pYDe3kin
Fucking insane decision if no one is coming in. We will be left with Lokonga and Xhaka. Unless he plans on playing White there.

Pantino? Recall Torreira and/or Guendouzi. I guess it makes sense not to buy until we sell the midfielders currently out on loan

Don't be surprised if mourinho plays him as a rb/rwb, I still think that's his best position. Athough, the slower more tactical element of serie A may be to AMN benefit.

Not aware of any recall clauses. Patino as a defensive midfielder?? Run along.

My 19 lad has been adamant for the past week that legohead will be offering wilshere a contract - I still highly doubt it, but allowing maitland-niles go out on loan makes zero sense to me

Didnt he say he was aiming to spend in the window? I'm sure in the wake of the game i heard that.

I like AMN as a squad player. Not every player has to be 'good enough'. There are only 11 places in the team and a player like AMN can be useful

I don’t get it either but it’s likely it’s being driven totally by AMN. He put on social media in the summer that he wanted Arsenal to let him go so maybe he’s mentally no use to us anymore if he’s still that desperate to leave.

If we really must, I’d rather loan him out at the end of window because we’ll need him through January until Elneny and Partey are close to returning.

I hadn’t considered Wilshere as a stop gap. Romantic idea but he can’t be match fit though so seems pointless really. Oh and he’s hardly the defensive presence we need alongside Xhaka so not sure it solves anything anyway

What a shame Torreira and Guendouzi are our players but can’t help.

The only thing about Jack is that he’s been training with the first team and according to reports has been very good. Plus he won’t see himself as more than a 20 minutes substitute and he is home grown . So it leaves a gap for an overseas forward D. M

I had considered if White may play a game or two at cm.

Given we have Holding who can step in at Centre back - providing Tommi is fit to play again at RB it could be an option.

Re MN not bothered at all if he goes, but it should be when it best suits us - not him.

Who can tell whether Jack Wilshire might be able to do a job for us. He never did have pace and often I felt the accumulation of of his injuries that eventually ended his career (?) were because he used to a) Hang on to the ball too long and end up getting clattered b) He used to go to ground too often in tackles.

Had he not been blighted by injuries he could have been an Arsenal Great.

Wilshire was a Natural and had those gifts and skills that the majority of players only dream of:

His passing ability was sublime as was his first touch, he could read the game incredibly well; which made up for his lack of pace as a mid-fielder.

I was sorry when his career seemed to come to such an abrupt end, as he never did fulfil his huge potential, I would love to see him wear the Arsenal shirt again even if only a few times as a sub, but only if he were up to the job and able to add to the team/ game rather than just make up the numbers.

One signing I hope doesn't happen. Is Coutinho. Odegaard is playing really well as is ESR. Why would we want a 29 year old to crowd the space in a position we are doing really well in.

Its so obvious we need a box to box/defensive midfielder. Our weakest position by far. Please Arteta, dont to what Arsene did and collect attacking midfielders

Agreed , I'd be fuming if we signed him , rather give Charlie or azeez a go.

AS Roma are still in talks with Arsenal for Maitland-Niles. Discussion ongoing about loan fee and buy option. Player’s open to accept but it’s not fully agreed between clubs yet 🔴 #AFC #ASRoma
