There were so many years under Wenger that I thought....if we can just sign three very good players, we could be challenging for the title, but of course, Wenger always tried to save the club money and chose to sign absolute shit thinking he could make them world class! Well we are kind of in that situation again. A top striker, a quality CM and in fact, another decent striker, and we wouldn't be too far away if we bring Saliba back to fight for a CB position as well. (Yes we would need a couple of covering players signed as well).
I just pray that we don't blow it by not going for it. Saka and ESR etc will not hang about for more than 2 more years if we're still fighting for top 4 at best. We have such a promising team, we are so damned close, do it Arsenal!!

This is probably a one off position for us because having Saka/ESR/Martinelli and Odegaard costing us only £36m in transfer fees.......god knows what their current worth is......over 200m maybe??

The longer we stay out of the top 4 the higher the probability that one of the players mentioned goes really .
Look at Kane , bet he wish he had left a few years back , so although they love the club Martinelli ESR Saka have to think about their long term futures. Remember we are rose tinted about AFC.

Nothing will ever match RVP going to manure .
I'm just glad PEA wasn't the next one to join them. The way he was treated in the latter stages, it was free for all. Though, I am quite sure he still loves the club and knows management treatment was very different from how the players/fans treated him.
Don't be daft and assume Auba is a complete innocent in this. You can't lay all the blame at Arteta or the club's door.

If he loved the club he wouldn't have appeared so disinterested after signing that big contract.
Never did I hint he was innocent in this, read the post. If Lukaku gets a starting spot after shitting all over Chelsea, Auba's 'hostile' behaviour isn't near enough to grant the treatment he was given. Having said that, I respect how quickly management dealt with this and it didn't turn into an Ozil situation.
Don't know where the "hostile" quote is from, certainly not me.

None of us actually knows what transpired. All we know are the few small facts that came out of the club, the rest is conjecture. I can't see any problem with the way he was treated from the things I'm aware of.

Pretty sure the club wouldn't have cancelled his contract and let him go for nothing if they hadn't deemed his behaviour or attitude to be an issue. :rubchin:

I love the fact that Odegaard is being mentioned by a few. Some on here insist on calling him "Ohdeargod" and can't or refuse (because of their agenda) to see that he IS a quality young player. 8)

I don't understand why Edu and Arteta just go all out and try and get Haaland from Dortmund. That would sort out the biggest gap we have in the side. One of his best friends in football just happens to be the Norwegian national team captain, and our no.8 Odegaard. By finishing 4th that would make us as attractive as City, Barcelona or Madrid. £67.5 m buyout clause. He's got to be top of the list.
The issue is not go all out and get Haaland. The issue is will Haaland want to join us? if Vlahovic didn't give us a second look, you can hazard a guess about Haaland.

It won't make us attractive at all, especially over MCI, LIV or Madrid. Even Barca are recovering well, it seems. At the end of the day, he will choose a destination that suits his preference and that is one which the league and CL are in contention every single season. We are heading that way, not quite there yet.
He would be the player that'll put us in contention. Might as well make use of the odegaard connection considering he's gonna be made club captain next season.

I heard Mbappe is good mates with lacazette, why not sign him up as well?

As if Haaland would have any interest in signing for us when he can sign for any club he chooses!

Have to agree. If we look at it with our Arsenal blinkers off and even compare one club like citeh to us it's a no brainer for top players.

Who would you choose to join? Citeh, with their world famous trophy-laden manager winning league titles and competing into the latter stages of all competitions most seasons, billions available to strengthen on a whim... or Arsenal with our arrogant novice manager scrapping around for 4th place with a donkey's septic arsehole like Clive as a starter every game in the heart of our midfield, and an absent owner who is kinda meh on us and football in general.....? Hmmm.... I wonder.

And before sid starts whining like a slapped arsehole  yes I know Baldy Pep only wins the big trophies when he has the money to do so etc etc but let's face it he is at a club with that money and he is revered in the world of "soccer" so the reputation and respect he has pisses all over Martinez-Lite's standing, I think we can agree?

From RMC Sport TV in France.

The Frenchman spoke highly about his decision to leave north London permanently in favor of the Stade Velodrome.

Matteo Guendouzi's permanent move to Marseille has been completed. After being initially loaned out by the Gunners due to a fallout with Mikel Arteta, the Frenchman has managed to turn his successful spell with the Ligue 1 giants into a long-term arrangement.

This was confirmed by Les Phocéens president Pablo Longoria who told RMC Sport that the now former Emirates Stadium starlet will remain at the Stade Velodrome until 2025. With four goals and 11 assists to his name this season, Marseille fans will welcome this news.

The Gunners will also be pleased with this as well. While the north London giants would have preferred to receive a higher transfer fee than the £9M they will now get, the Premier League side were simply keen on getting him off the books after being frozen out of the team due to disciplinary issues.

However, what Arsenal will not appreciate is Guendouzi's parting message. The 22-year-old spoke up about this permanent move and threw a jibe at his former employers, stating that this decision was arguably the best choice he has made in years.

"It was a carefully considered choice," the midfielder told RMC Sport.

"There were very good discussions with the president, with the coach and people in my family. We really made the best decision altogether. For me, it's the best choice I've made in many years.

"President Longoria and coach [Jorge] Sampaoli are the people who introduced me to the project and made me want to come. We talked about Marseille's project, what I could bring to the team, how I was going to grow.

"I found myself in this speech, I knew that when I came here, I was going to cross levels and continue to grow, whether it was humanly or football-wise."

While his unprofessional remarks aimed at Brighton's Neal Maupay a few years back looked to have been the final straw for Guendouzi's time in north London, the Frenchman racked up a series of poor conduct since joining the Premier League giants at the age of 19.

This move looks to have benefited both parties, however. The player is back to his best on the pitch and is at a club challenging for UEFA Champions League football. Arsenal, meanwhile, are one of the favorites for a top-four finish, with the north London side currently sitting only a point behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

this isn't news it was always an obligation to buy at end of season i thought so there was never any option, apart from marseilles potential transfer ban but then as this was agreed before then no one thought it would impact it.

I don't think we are pleased he is worth infinitely more than 9m based on his performances this season, albeit in a crap league, but it would have inflated his price regardless as would his international recognition.

im mixed on this one, i not sure if we will regret it (apart from the pittance of a fee) as he looked crap a lot of the time but did show willing, fight and some talent at times (more than xhaka) so i think has potential to be very good.

Well I thought it was news as it's happened a few months early and the figure is £9m.

Can't please everyone I suppose

Exactly my point. He can chose any club he wants. Why not The Arsenal?
Wrighty came to Arsenal cos of his connection to Rocky. Pires, Wiltord came because we already had Henry, Vieira, and Wenger. Why not come to Arsenal and become great with us, scoring the goals that could bring us domestic success? We've got the best young squad in the league. A couple of additions to that squad will push us back in front.

Totally right Teecee , I remember us crying out for a defensive midfielder for years but wenger didn’t see it until by accident Coquelin played in that role. We also missed out on Suarez and that was a title changing decision.

I still think that maybe Arteta isn’t all that , not convinced . The way he has treated Saliba and even Guendouzi and yet picks Xhaka who I still think will come up with another red card this season at a vital time.

Anyone who picks Xhaka has got to be a crunt really

NOs89 , you really confuse me but you are harmless but wtf makes you think that we could compete with either Madrid side for Haaland ?

Btw I guess you also think that ESR and Saka will be around more than three years if we don’t get top 4 , you reasoning being they love the club which I don’t doubt for one mo.

Top 4 needs to happen this season of all seasons because manure won’t stink the place out next year .

Hope you had a nice day at school .
