Totally right Teecee , I remember us crying out for a defensive midfielder for years but wenger didn’t see it until by accident Coquelin played in that role. We also missed out on Suarez and that was a title changing decision.

I still think that maybe Arteta isn’t all that , not convinced . The way he has treated Saliba and even Guendouzi and yet picks Xhaka who I still think will come up with another red card this season at a vital time.

Anyone who picks Xhaka has got to be either deranged, is a cunnt or both.

Nos89- pires and wiltord both joined a successful team who had recently won major trophies, including the league title.
I think it’s fair to say that Ian Wright wasn’t as coveted as Haaland currently is!

Haaland will either join someone like Madrid or man city, teams that he will also improve but will have a good chance of immediate success of league titles and in Europe. Im sure he’ll also manage to make a friend when there

Exactly. Wrighty was 27 when we took a punt on him and that's exactly what we did. We took a punt. He wasn't beating away offers. I mean it worked out well 8) but it wasn't like we were signing the most in demand and coveted striker in Europe!

It did and it didnt , we were scoring goals for fun with merse, campbell , smudger and Anders. We became very one dimensional when he signed and our football deteriorated,. Dont get me wrong , I loved our cup wins at Wembley and Copenhagen as was lucky enough to be at all of them but we were never gonna challenge for the league again .

Campbell is a stretch mate!

For me Wrighty brought an excitement and a different level of finish to the club. You never knew what he'd do next. Absolute legend.

Yeah maybe  , he was and still is thd best finisher Ive seen at Arsenal. Had a great time at Southampton when he got a hat trick in his second game .

Wrighty was close to the Greaves level and never got the international credit he deserved because the national team was built round and besotted with Shearer.
As a natural goal scorer the only other that i can think of was Eduardo who sadly got his career ruined before we got to see exactly how good he was.

Arsenal are in talks with the entourage of William Saliba over a contract renewal, with his current deal expiring in 2024, that could see him rewarded with a new long-term contract & a wage increase. #afc https://t.co/0343Xx4boa

Yeah let's give him 200,000 a week then get his next few loan clubs to pay a quarter of that then off load him in his final year with a 7 million pay off

Shame about Guendouzi as I think he's developed into the midfielder we need. One more season at Marsaille and he'll be sold for £40-50m
I'm convinced we will see a 3-4-3 formation next season with Saliba, White and Gabriel. We look a better attacking team with 3 at the back as proven against Wolves.

#Arsenal are prioritising 2 strikers & a midfielder this summer as part of plans to back Arteta in the next stage of his rebuild. The club are also exploring the possibility of signing a winger, left-sided centre-back & right-back, reports @sr_collings. https://t.co/YckKNAfrYw

#Arsenal retain an interest in strikers Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin & Jonathan David, while Benfica’s Darwin Nunez is another player being tracked. The Gunners are also admirers of Armando Broja but fear it is unlikely Chelsea would be willing to do business with them. https://t.co/6A21Ef8hI1

In midfield, #Arsenal are long-term admirers of Douglas Luiz, Ruben Neves & Youri Tielemans. Luiz & Tielemans will both have one year left on their respective contracts in the summer and neither are close to signing an extension. https://t.co/YdLLQ5TeNd

#Arsenal have also scouted two young midfielders this season in Palmeiras’ Danilo & Carney Chukwuemeka of Aston Villa, suggesting two arrivals could come in that position. https://t.co/5Io2GsdTeV
