ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I'm going to off on a limb and say DCL might be a better pick than Isak. The latter is proving to be super good but we need someone that can hit the ground running and not a Pepe situation. Being English he'd be likely costing 50M+ but if it is anything like Ramsdale where the player wants out and we can get him for 30-40, I'd be inclined to take him in. Injuries might be a problem but we are seasoned in that department, someone is always out lol.
David is exciting but it's Lille, they'd be looking to pocket 70-90M like they did Pepe. Broja is out of the equation, with the situation at Chelsea, he'd be a perfect bench/rotation starter for them.
Tielemans hasn't signed his contract, he'd be probably looking to step up into a club like RM/Barca/LIV but good addition for us. Luiz and Neves the long range shooter are meh but I guess anything is an upgrade, usually we have the mids go missing in big games.
If Bissouma is clear of those charges, I think he could be a really good addition.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
He is a really good midfielder, has developed a lot with Marseille. Still can't get my head around what the issue was - he's a kid, a bit of attitude. Pretty much any kid at that age and level of football has it. Shame we didn't give him a 2nd chance and that's the thing I despise about Mikel; always tunnel vision in his own ways and once a player is frozen, he's gone.Nos89 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 1:07 pmShame about Guendouzi as I think he's developed into the midfielder we need. One more season at Marsaille and he'll be sold for £40-50m
I'm convinced we will see a 3-4-3 formation next season with Saliba, White and Gabriel. We look a better attacking team with 3 at the back as proven against Wolves.

Guendouzi is a petulanmt c.unt. forget him he's gone.

BBC:
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said the club will make a decision on whether to offer French striker Alexandre Lacazette, 30, a new contract at the end of the season.
.......................................
Arsenal could allow up to 13 players to leave during the summer transfer window. (Express)
......................................
Players who could leave Arsenal
Bernd Leno
Leno has lost his spot as No 1 to Aaron Ramsdale and is unlikely to win it back soon.
He wants to be playing in a World Cup year and Arsenal have already signed his likely replacement in Matt Turner, who will arrive from New England Revolution this summer.
Mohamed Elneny
Elneny is out of contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to stay.
The Egyptian has never been a regular in over six years with the Gunners.
Granit Xhaka
Xhaka came close to leaving last summer but for Roma to fail to offer what Arsenal wanted.
Roma are again interested and it would not be a surprise to see the Swiss star on his way.
Alexandre Lacazette
Lacazette's contract is coming to an end and it appears he won't be signing a new one.
Arsenal need a striker with a bigger goal output than the Frenchman.
Eddie Nketiah
Nketiah has turned down all offers of a renewal to his contract so far.
There is likely to be clubs willing to offer him more game time than Arteta has so far.
Hector Bellerin
Bellerin is the first of a long list of loaness who look set to make permanent exits away from Arsenal.
He seems settled on loan at Real Betis and a return to Arsenal appears unlikely at this stage.

I think we need to re-assess our transfers if we qualify for CL. We will need 2 x first team starters and 5 squad members.
If Calvert-Lewin is too much, look across Stanley Park and check the status of Firmino. One of those front 3 will be missing out with Diaz arriving, and so far it's been the Brazilian. He'll fit right in with our style of play.
I think Coutinho will opt for permanent move to villa, so no need to get excited about him.
Would we be tempted to cherry pick from Chavs if they don't get sold? Havartz and Kovacic would fit right into our team.

I’d also have no interest in coutinho. We already have esr and odegaard for that positionStuartL wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 7:27 pmIf we get CL I’d like to think we have bigger aspirations than DCLNos89 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 6:16 pmI think we need to re-assess our transfers if we qualify for CL. A decent striker (or two) is clearly a priority but unsure who is likely to be available. We also have to bear in mind that we don’t want to ‘kill’ nketiahs development

Sorry, have you worked thirty years in football?

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I agree. I've promoted the idea of buying DCL because of the situation we are in. If we do get CL football then we'd need a regular international calibre striker. However, from what I hear a contract has been agreed with the player. It's the fee that needs to be agreed. Given current form £25m would be enough. Everton's current predicament would have them wanting nearer £50m. But I think we have the answer in the squad already, Martinelli, ESR and Pepe are all capable of playing that false 9, and scoring goals.StuartL wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 7:27 pmIf we get CL I’d like to think we have bigger aspirations than DCLNos89 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 6:16 pmI think we need to re-assess our transfers if we qualify for CL. Left field suggestion I know, but if rashford was going cheap I wouldnt be adverse to signing him - imo he may not be world class but he is certainly far better than he is showing this season, and given that we need to sign at least 2 strikers this summer (to replace auba, laca and nketieh), we wont be able to sign a bevy of world class strikers and need to be shrewd with our signings too.
Can I also say that I would only buy him to play in the centre forward position cos we have enough wingers
