As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Augie , with all due respect you are a miserable git , if I didn’t know better I would think you were a girl with a period rather than a short squat angry red cheeked little shop keeper.
Btw they could do with your input on the Covid thread at the top please go on there .
No Italian teams left in champs league. Italy knocked out of world cup by north macedonia. That my friends is the level of competition abraham is playing at, and yet some insist on proclaiming him to be a quality striker
I don’t watch much football apart from Arsenal but I’ve liked what I’ve seen of Abraham.
Tbh many on here didn’t want Ramsdale, Odegaard or Tomiyasu last summer, and have made their views on Partey clear this season too, so in some ways I see a negative OnlineGooner review of Abraham as decent evidence that he’d actually do well for us
The difference being that we have seen enough of abraham to make a quantified assessment - I hadnt heard of tommy, had seen sweet fa of ramsdale, admittedly was not a fan of odeargod (and still believe that smith-rowe is way better than him despite his improvement), but abraham I had seen plenty of and was not at all impressed. I know that it isnt a new thing (or unique to England) but english players frequently get hyped up way beyond their ability (eg pickford, maguire, stones), and it is my opinion that if abraham was "a foreigner" clubs like brighton southampton and west ham would now be vying for his services, instead of so called bigger clubs
Tbh I agree with the augster. I admit there's a possibility that Tammy Tampon could somehow become a good player for us but I doubt it - based on what I've seen.
It's like Lu-kack-u. I saw how shit he was last time in the PL, basically Sturridge-Lite, but after he had a bit of form in a joke league people were raving about him and - look oh what a surprise - he's a bog average second rate PL striker, like he's always been.

DCL, Tammy Abraham. Now we are linked to Rashford.
If I had the choice, I would go for Rashford. His unhappiness at United can be turned around. He wouldnt be the main centre forward although he can play down the middle and across the flanks. Being shit at United doesn't mean he is a lost cause. Would make some sense if Pepe left and United were prepared to sell for a modest fee just to get rid of him. If we could get Rashford for the same fee we could sell Pepe for it would be worthwhile. Under these circumstances it wouldnt be a net signing, but a de-facto swap.
As far as the centre forward goes. One safe option one punt. I think a good safe option is Luka Jovic who is seriously underused at Real Madrid. As for the other striker, Arteta should back himself and look in the bargain bin. Haaland was nobody before he joined Dortmund and his rise was very quick. Almost certain there is some potential 30 goal a season striker playing on the fringes somewhere
It will be martinelli and Balogun . Calvert Lewin would be ok but why would Tammy want to leave Roma
Because he will want to play in the PL, he only went to italy because lukaku went to chelsea. Once Lukaku and Werner leaves in the summer, Abraham will probably end up back there as they have first option to buy back. if I remember the deal. Anyway, loads on here said he wasn't good enough for The Arsenal, even though I put him ahead of calvert-lewin in English strikers stakes. Working with mourinho would have done he good, but he'll end up elsewhere when returning to England, as he turned us down for Roma. As Arteta has said he doesn't want players at the club when he has to sell the club to them, they should want to play for The Arsenal, and currently Calvert-Lewin wants to play for The Arsenal.
In fairness though Nos mate you were telling us Lu-kack-u would be a great signing and as I and many others predicted he is still just the same second rate striker he has always been.
If it wasn't you that was touting Lu-kack-u then I do apologise of course. But someone deffo was hailing him on here before he went to the chav.
Thought lukaku would make the difference for the chavs but I'd put Abraham before him for Arsenal as he's (lukaku) lazy. Whenever I watched Abraham against us he was always on the move, worked hard and scored. Anyway, that boat has sailed.
I see Balogun as a kind of Kevin Campbell equivalent . Campbell played about 200 games for us and scored about 50 times . A good team member but needs an Ian Wright type striker alongside him.
Yeah! But Kevin Cambell had 'Presence' (Physical and his mind set/ Psychological thingy) whereas Eddie is literally like a lightweight feather a severe gust of wind and he's Gone! I wish it were otherwise seeing as he (and Balogun) have come through the Arsenal Academy, but they just aren't up to it.
I don't get the fuss over Balogun. Never made an impact when he played for us this season. Anyone who watched Campbell at the start of his career knows he was miles ahead of Balogun at the same age.
Can Rashford play with his back to goal and bring in our other attacking players? Not on the evidence I've seen, in which case where would you play him? Out wide means no Saka or Martinelli, more central behind the top player means no Odegaard or Smith Rowe
I want a beast up front - not a lightweight pussy that can't hold the ball up
If we do sign St Francis of Rashford then obviously I hope he is a huge success for us, but tbh I don't think he will be. I think on his best day he is still only in that second tier of forwards like Sturridge, Welbeck, Giroud etc. And as SteveO said, where and how do we play him in this current team?
All I was suggesting was buying him as a (cheaper) back up number 9 to alternate with a higher price first choice number 9. We havent got enough money for two high quality number 9s, and just cos he is having a bad time at manure doesnt make him a bad player - last year everyone wanted de gea binned in favour of henderson, and this season you could argue that he has been the best keeper in the league
I absolutely would not buy rashford if he was gonna play anywhere else other than the 9
