ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I see Tierney being linked to Real Madrid recently for £50 million (allegedly). This looks like agent talk to me. Do they really need him?
I hope their medical department is better than ours
He’s not been as effective this season, but maybe that’s partly due to instruction not to bomb forward so much, which leaves Xhaka “covering” for him ?
Maybe the opinion is that Martinelli / ESR are quite capable of causing mayhem by themselves / combined so Tierney stays defensive so we don’t end up exposed so much ?

Anyhow, think he is probably quite happy in London, can’t picture his pasty face with a deep tan.

If we do sign St Francis of Rashford  then obviously I hope he is a huge success for us, but tbh I don't think he will be. I think on his best day he is still only in that second tier of forwards like Sturridge, Welbeck, Giroud etc. And as SteveO said, where and how do we play him in this current team?

Not for me.
Same here regarding Rashford. Welbeck is a good comparison.
I was one of those that was wanting Balogun to be given a chance in the first team last season but watching him play for the Smoggies against the Chavs in the cup I wasn't sure if he was crap or the players around him made him look crap.

It’s pretty common knowledge that Rashford is a narcissist. School meals? Do me a favour. Something dreamed up by his PR to make him look like the second coming. Have a look around and you’ll find many a story about what he’s really like.

I think that the Welbeck comparison is a good one as well. He'd probably come in on high wages despite what he delivers, so it's a hard no from me.

Can’t help but think this is a Scottish thing? You’ve barely had a good word to say about the guy since the minute he joined us? … yes he’s had a couple injury’s but the main one was an unfortunate double hernia which he was nursing from his time at Celtic and another one was just unlucky from a bad tackle.

Pretty sure if he was English you wouldn’t have this attitude towards him. He will be captain soon whether you like it or not so we will see then your feelings towards him when he is leading the team out to hopefully some big success in years to come.

He’s been absolutely class since he joined, totally committed and gives everything for the cause and he is everything this spineless Arsenal side has been missing for years now. Stats prove he’s one of the least dribbled past players in the PL this season plus a massive threat going forward until this season when it’s clear he’s been told to remain defensive and not get forward as much.

I think that the Tierney story started in the Daily Record , then it got picked up by The Mirror and spread again by football London who are all part of Reach Plc .

Whats alarming is the number of Arsenal fans who are open to the idea of selling Tierney. Whats the point on buying him for 25m only to sell for 50m? Does that mean we have 50m to spend on a left back? Ok who? In that scenario we just willingly sold our left back assuming another club will sell us their top left back.

Were going to have a lot of interest for our players, namely Saka, Martinelli, ESR - if other clubs sense weakness they will move. In fact they may move regardless. Im expecting Salah to leave Liverpool this summer and for Liverpool to make good on Klopps praise of Martinelli and bid for him. Whether its a piss take bid of 40m-ish or a serious bid of 80m+ who knows. But either way the club cant ask us to buy into Arteta's project if we start selling first team players. Especially when they arnt looking to leave, and Tierney and Martinelli based on their comments, attitude and behaviors are not at all looking to leave.

What is it with Arsenal fans. On one side we have the toxic self loathing Gooners, like a guy called Lee Gunner who is the worst football fan of any club. Then we have the whipped dogs who after years of disappointment think we should roll over readily, 'oh a 50m bid from Real Madrid, we have to take it then'. No we dont. Same goes for Martinelli and any bids we get from Liverpool. We shouldn't even provide the dignity of a response, just ignore the bid as if it was never made

Go back over many of my posts where I think even your miniscule amount of grey matter will be able to conclude that I've actually come round to liking the guy as both a player and character not that I give two fucks what you think like I don't the bald idiot on here who only frequents the forum when we lose.
