As one who is admittedly an irredeemable curmudgeon, I do genuinely admire your boundless and constant sense of optimism. I rarely agree with it...perhaps "never" would be more accurate...but that doesn't stop me admiring it. While reserving the right to challenge your rose tinted viewpoint in future, I do appreciate the fact that it's good to have a positive opinion amongst all the doom and gloom on here (and few, if any, are worse than I).

Can you be more succinct in future posts please Retro old boy, we don’t have time to read, digest and make sense of these incoherent ramblings.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 3:54 pm

Flores is a real talent, Mexican lad and has played international football for them alreadyMidz wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 6:29 pmNever heard of him and never heard of them so fuck the pair of 'em.mcdowell42 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 6:13 pmArsenal youngster Marcelo Flores will join Real Oviedo on a season-long loan. Give a year or two on loan playing v men and see if he will be ready for the first team.
(Same with Patino for me, he still looks a boy, but has great talent)
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Fabregas still looks like a boy at 35 but he didn't do too badly did he. Patino I have seen play and he does look very talented.
If Flores is as good as you say I hope he does well for us.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Fabregas was a one off - such an intelligent football brain.
Have a look for yourself, wouldn’t get away with all that in the premier league, but certainly has the skill set.

The Administrators of the Online Gooner have taken the liberty of enrolling you onto a CSE English course. We know that this will be something of a stretch for you academically, but we couldn't help but feel that you are missing so much of what is on offer on our Forum. Most of all, the wonderfully perceptive insight and sublime prose of Retro Gunner...he is, without question, the literary shining star in our online firmament.
Admittedly, a CSE qualification won't be enough to enable you to grasp the detailed and nuanced complexities of Retro Gunner's fine work, but we expect that you'll eventually be able to read his offerings without moving your lips. We may then be able to move you towards an "O" Level, although that may be akin to asking Granit Xhaka to resemble a competent footballer, or indeed, a footballer of any sort. Anyway, we'll progress gently with "baby steps"
As a show of generosity, the Administration are funding the course and our senior Moderator, Mr DB10, has offered to cough up from his own pocket, in the hope that he no longer has to read and vainly attempt to decipher your coarse grained and agricultural compositions.
May we wish you good luck...sadly, we feel you're going to need it,
Sincerely,
Klaus Schwab

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
In response to a previous post...of course we've got a top 4 squad. We spent nearly half the season in the top 4. But for key injuries to Tomi, Tierney, and Partey and a couple of decisions made in January that were financially beneficial to the club, and the wretched COVID postponement of the NLD, we would have cantered into 3rd.
Sure, Spuds have made 6 or 7 signings, only one of whom would have improved our squad. Take Kane and Son away, they have a average squad with a successful experienced manager, who made the biggest difference in final league positions. Chavs are weaker than last season and no other team has improved significantly to be above us. With the start we have to the season I'd expect us to be top 2 after 5 games.
I'd also suggest that the top 2 are currently weaker at this moment in time than they have been over the last 4 season's.
