Arsenal transfer priority is Pedro Neto. Discussions for over a month - #AFC to Jorge Mendes, Mendes to Wolves. #WWFC don’t plan to sell 22yo winger yet + Arsenal can’t spend excessively so deal not easy. But interest concrete & unanimous @TheAthleticUK
Hope this is true Rated this bloke highly a couple of seasons ago before he got injured (I think). I remember saying to mates that we should buy him.
Mind you, the only thing I don't understand, is why we're desperate to sign another winger. I prefer ESR centrally, but he's played well out wide, so if Neto (or another winger) joins, who of Neto, Saka, or Martinelli sits on the bench with ESR?
As much as I rate Neto, it's a centre mid (or two) that the side desperately needs and which would move us to the next level.

Neto is a quality player imo, but is there no-one on the coaching staff or involved in running the club that has enough bollox to stand up and tell pep's cone boy that WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER WINGER even if we get shot of pepe - honest to god I am stunned that nobody is questioning the need for another winger, and some fans are actually advocating it We already have saka, martinelli, smith-rowe, vieira and marquinhos, so why do we need another winger when there are other positions of much greater need ?? At the mo our ONLY back up striker is nketieh, so you tell me would you rather spend the money involved buying neto or an upgrade on nketieh ? At the mo we still have the swiss turd in midfield, so would you rather buy another winger or someone to displace him from the starting team ? It really should be a no brainer, but again the cone boy doesnt want to bring in anyone to displace the swiss turd. There are posters on here that I dont always agree with but still respect, and they dont seem to recognise the negative knock on effect signing a winger will have on smith-rowe and martinelli - are we seriously thinking that the club will spend £35m+ (rumoured fee) on a player and then have him behind saka, martinelli and smith-rowe in the pecking order (and that is leaving out the 2 players vieira and marquinhos that arteta bought this summer) ? Rodders suggested on here the other day that marquinhos was bought for the future, but how many games can a 5th choice winger be expected to play anyway ?
The shammers have started poorly might be vulnerable to a bid for Declan Rice, who looks better than last season. I'd start at £80m and offer AMN and Cedric on loan.

Agree with Augie. Don't need another winger unless the club are preparing to let Saka go to City. Which is an absolute fatal step for the club's progress.

He wants two players for every position so neto would be back up to saka, esr on the left with gabi, fabio competing with xhaka (his words) , odegaard , gabi can play up front as well . Marquinhos is the strange one as he isn't going on loan now .
Why did Liverpool spend 80 million on Darwin Nunez when they have Jota and Firminho?
Why did City spunk 100 million on Grealish when they had Foden, Silva, Mahrez and Sterling?
Why did Sp*rs spend 60 million on Richarlison when they have Son?
It is bonkers that people are losing their sh*t over us signing a winger when it is clear that Pepe is being loaned out. Last year Saka and ESR's form tanked in the second half of the season owing to tiredness and injuries. This year is a world cup year and Saka is expected to start most of England's games. Given the number of games that Saka is expected to play this season and the way teams have been kicking the day lights out of him, it would have been negligence not to get a back up or even a competition for him. Vieira does not appear to have been signed to play as a winger, he is versatile who can be a back up/competition to Odegaard or play the Xhaka position. Marquinhos is not signed for the first team so unless he does a Martinelli, he will be going out on loan in January or next season.
People may have their favourites but the thought that any player no matter how good they are should not be challenged with competition is a bit dense.

Possibly the most sensible post I've seen for a while.
Whether we need a right sided forward really depends on whether Vieira can play there. If not, we obviously have a gap in our squad in that position even if some fans play dumb to it.
I’d much prefer a striker to offer better competition for Jesus but I accept that’s Nketiah.
No idea if we need Tielemans or not. Does he play left 8? - I’m curious if Zinchenko or Vieira can play there; if not, Xhaka still needs an upgrade.
My preference is striker first (won’t happen), Xhaka upgrade (might happen) then right forward (probably will happen) but, if none of that happens, I think Edu and co. have still had a superb summer so fair play

Answer 1 - cos they have no striker/no proper number 9. Firmino was a bit part player last season in case you havent noticed, and klopp seems to think he is on the decline. Contrast that to every single one of our wingers who are all young and on the way up
Answer 2 - cos they can. City have that much money that they can afford to spunk that much money on an over-rated cheating brummie c.unt - we dont have the same resources and need to be more selective with how we spend money
Answer 3 - the scum have 3 players for the front 3 positions and zero back up of any quality. We have FIVE wingers already, but if you want to play championship manager and spend money cos it is fashionable, you go ahead
People asking stupid questions and not comparing two similar situations is more than a bit dense - if we had quality everywhere then no matter who you bring in will make competition fierce, but when you have a shit swiss c.unt as first choice centre midfielder, then only someone mentally challenged would argue that the number 8 position isnt the priority

Agree with all this. Those clubs are also more able to keep bit part players happy, because they're competing at the top level, are in the CL and are winning stuff.
Why the club are prioritising wingers (and as I've said, I rate Neto highly), makes little sense when we are desperately weak in centre mid. Quite apart from the hapless and hopeless Xhaka, Partey is bang average at best imo. For a big bloke who ought to have a real presence in the middle of the park, he often seems to be barely involved, apart from 5 yd sideways passes on the halfway line...the new Denilson. His distribution is poor and he makes few tackles. He had a poor 2nd half on Saturday and a couple of time a guy skipped past him in the middle of the park and he made no effort to chase back.
Still, he's a better option than Xhaka. Picking up on Augie's point about the number 8 position, we have ESR, who fast seems to be becoming the forgotten man and could certainly replace the Swiss dud in the advanced centre mid position. Mind you, we all know that Clubfoot's place in the side is safe as houses under Lego Head.

Thanks for answering the questions, you get a C+
If you are going to lose your head isn't it better to wait for the transfer window to shut and see who we sign and not sign before going mental? Did anyone here say that we don't need a central midfielder and that it isn't a priority? To not be able to comprehend that advocating signing a winger doesn't mean that anyone is against signing a CM as a priority is a bit dense.
Talks are progressing well between Arsenal and OGC Nice for Nicolas Pepé. Positive conversations also today over loan deal until 2023. #AFC
Salary coverage now discussed as final step. Pedro Neto, part of AFC list as @David_Ornstein reported - but priority to outgoings now.
Negotiations ongoing between OGC Nice and Arsenal for Nicolas Pépé - been told buy option currently not included, could be simple loan until June 2023 but all parties in talks, it’s still open. #AFC
Optimism also on clubs side, but Pépé’s salary is being discussed.
