Ongoing talks between #Arsenal and #Shakhtar for #Mudryk. #AFC

⏳ The 2 clubs are working to reach an agreement for a figure of €25m+bonuses: there is optimism for the positive closure of deal. Evolving situation. 🐓⚽

Yeah he can play on both wings ,very highly rated to help saka. We have three DMs injured as Zinny can play there currently cant see us going for another when they're short term injuries.

I remember seeing him playing against Madrid in the CL and he immediately caught the eye. Probably a bit raw and is coming from a poor Ukrainian league but appears to have a high ceiling. Not a ready made PL ready player like Neto and will need time to adapt but would be a good signing at the right price.

Is it me or does Arteta have a particular blindspot for the area of the park he used to play in?

We shouldn’t be thinking about the length of the injuries, we ought to be thinking about signing centre midfield players because those we have aren’t good enough.

Xhaka...it’s all been said before. A chronic weak link that will continue to cost us dearly.

Partey...has been disappointing and is very average. For a guy with such a physical presence, he is somewhat peripheral on the pitch and doesn’t impose himself at all.

Elneny...does little wrong and is more reliable than Partey or Xhaka. An avaerage journeyman type, but ok as a squad player and doesn’t constantly give the ball away.

All in all, it’s clearly the weakest area of the pitch for us and additions should have been prioritised. Sadly, Arteta obviously doesn’t see it that way and it will prevent this team maximising the potential it has.

Agreed - the good form of Jesus and Zinchenko will soon be forgotten unless we address this position. Elneny should never be more than a squad player we bring in for specific games, and it appears he is out for some time now.....so already 4 games into the season and before the European games arrive we are down to the Swiss turd, paper ankles Partey and Lokonga (who should be playing EL and domestic cup games only for his development). Do we really want Zinchenko there? If we do, we're assuming Tierney stays fit and in form (both dubious).

All I read about is bloody wingers - come on and sign us a proper midfielder

Good Call, because for sure Clive is an absolute disaster that will cost us dearly (again and Again and ... :? )

Remember how we used to cry out for TOF to sign a decent pairing of CB's and a Midfield Marshal / Defender; especially once Gilberto had left and he just kept signing small very skilled players.

Agreed here too. I think in the midst of this sweet start to the season many people have overlooked exactly the situation you both describe. As much as I like Tierney we cannot rely on him to stay fit. Nor Partey. We have enough wingers and wide players and a few that can be adapted as wingers. We need that top class DM or CM that will drive and lead the team between both boxes, that will control that key area. Without him, we'll get overrun in the middle too often again this season.

Agreed 1000%.

That Brazil based Football Journo Tim Vickery was talking about Lucas Paqueta who we were supposed to be in for; he has now signed for the shammers (£51million - ish), But he was saying he is really surprised the Arsenal didn't sign him as he would have been ideal as a box to box mid-fielder as he can both create/set up attacks but also defend and protect the back 4/3, he is a first choice for the Brazilian national team, not that that means anything, but he is on the team list before the likes of Neymar etc :?

Unless of course they definitely have a mid-fielder coming in ? :|

I said what all you boys are saying in one of the match threads post victory.

It's a house of cards all built on sand. Jesus injured we are fucked. Partey injured we are fucked.

Until those massive issues are addressed it's all emperors new clothes for me as we all know, Partey in particular will either be injured for a while at some point (or otherwise unavailable...)

That not even mentioning the need to upgrade in CM anyway...

If we're looking for a winger as back up for Saka, Harrison from Leeds looks more than capable.
I'd be surprised if we pull Tielemans in before the deadline.

Move Ben White into midfield, Tomi back in the starting 11. That's sorted that problem out. Or just spend £80m on Declan Rice.
