Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Shakhtar are not backing down over Mudryk and are willing to postpone talks until the summer if £88m valuation is not hit.
Chelsea now in active talks just to make things more complicated.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
We either get Mudryk now or we never do. If we wait until summer, someone else will get him who is willing to pay 80-85m for him.
The management at Arsenal (I think Arteta already knows this but it's those above him who need to open their eyes), need to consider what is likely to happen if we don't bring new quality faces in this window. You have to look at the Brighton game and last night, we had nothing on the bench of quality in midfield or attack (in Arteta's eyes). We could still miss out on top 4, if we lost 3 out of the next 4 games, we could be in 4th place by the end of Jan and shitting our pants yet again. What we have achieved up to now is amazing considering how weak our squad is, and we haven't even restarted the Europa league games yet!! We need 3 good players coming in this window really but I'm just not sure the board are that willing to back the squad strengthening.

I know nothing about Mudryk, but assuming he's what we need, then just pay the fucking price. We've always done this low balling on price and I mean long before Wenger, even though that French clown took it to a new level. When will we learn that you need to identify a player and strike quickly to land him, even if you pay a bit over the odds, so that other clubs are not alerted. Chelsea have done this to us before, notably with Juan Mata. We'd spent all summer in negotiation with Valencia, trying to knock 3 or 4 million off the asking price and in late August, Chelsea waltz in, pay the asking price (or close to it) and sign him immediately. From memory, we're talking around the 25 million mark, which wasn't over the top.
I also remember how Ferguson used to operate at Utd, when they had the financial big stick. Ferdinand was at Leeds and Yorke at Villa and on both occasions he made an offer that appeared over the top at the time, but the deal was done immediately, despite neither club wanting to sell. The amount offered meant they couldn't say no and also warded off competitors.
As others have said, if we want this Mudryk, then pay what they want now and get it done. Chelsea are desperate and won't mess about.

If Chelsea are interested then that it.
They'll easily outbid us.
So fucking small time from the club.

There must be some uncertainty with Mudryk as he'd be our player. Given the wingers Chavs have, and don't play, I'm surprised they're in for him. We're only going for him as Reiss Nelson is injured, and no back up for Saka. He's gonna be a squad player not a starter and £80m for a squad player is way too much. We've still got. £72m player out on loan we could recall if things got desperate.

I hink Mudryk's club (or the CEO) Are just trying to get as much money for him as they can, but he has stated publicly that he wants to go to Arsenal, so as much as the Chavs could probably outfit us, the fact that he has stated his preferred destination carries a lot of weight. (I Hope).
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
From what i seen of Mudryk he is an out and out winger...loads of pace....Shaktar saying he can play anywhere across the front...he also looks useful with both feet....but clips were from an inferior ukranian league...although he has played champions league football which he also looked useful.
Arteta is on record as saying Martinelli must play wide...so maybe hes looking at Mudryk to play in the middle..who knows?
I would like to see another midfielder someone like Mc Allister of Brighton who would be an interesting addition to our midfield, plus a striker
Will be interesting to see what Edu and Arteta come up with.....

To my mind Red, we need to sign a replacement Xhaka (or preferably replace him with ESR when fit), which we all know ain't gonna happen and a proper goal scoring centre forward. We have lacked a top quality, goal scoring striker since RVP left. I know nothing about Mudryk, but I can't understand this obsession with wingers. Is Marquinhos any good? I know he's young, but it's rumoured we might be sending him out on loan, which seems crackers when our squad is so thin. With this young team and lack of experience and quality on the bench, we need to be buying players who are ready, as we can't afford the luxury of too many works in progress.

Mudryk wants us but Shakhtar are auctioning him off. He’s off to Chelsea.

Agree with the Xhaka comment...yes we have some good youngsters...Patino seems to be doing well.....we need to add quality to our squadRetro Gunner wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 5:18 pmRedarmy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 4:28 pmFrom what i seen of Mudryk he is an out and out winger...loads of pace....Shaktar saying he can play anywhere across the front...he also looks useful with both feet....but clips were from an inferior ukranian league...although he has played champions league football which he also looked useful.

White is playing better....Tierney who we know is decent to me has dropped off
Tommi has had a few nightmares...that said....overall its a good time to be an Arsenal fan

If I was Shakhtar I'd sell him to Chelsea out of spite. Negotiating with us is the biggest waste of time. We just lowball and bullshit. I keep seeing comments online that Mudryk wanting to join us will impact the deal when in reality he could go to bed in a full kit but if we aren't near the asking price then he's gone to Cheslea.BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 5:22 pmMudryk wants us but Shakhtar are auctioning him off. This and I think that's exactly how some selling teams view it BFG.
