As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I can't believe the negativity, we have a chance to put ourselves in control of the title chase, we've had better title squads this who've had blips!
COYG!!!!!
I cheered myself up on Sunday by watching the 88/89 season review. It was about this time of the season where our swashbuckling team lost at home to Forest, drew with Charlton etc and got 1 win in 5 games. That team also lost home and way to Derby, got knocked out of the FA Cup at home to West Ham, lost at home to Villa etc. The 1998 title winning team lost at home to Blackburn and were written off against a Man U side that were dominating. 2002 winning team also got dicked at home by Charlton.
I think the City game is exactly what we need. The last 2 games have been against teams that have had two banks of players lined up in front of their own goal, playing very direct breakaway football. City won't be like that and their defence is pap as well
I'm confident that this will be like the United game - open and free flowing and more suited to the way we play. No guarantees but I'm not doom and gloom just because we dropped points to Brentford (a team unbeaten in 10 and who have already won at City, stuffed Man Ure 4-0 etc)
A nice bit of perspective there - a draw at home against an in form side is not a bad result.
As I said the other day on here the invincibles of 2004 drew 12 league games that season.
Literally no idea where the positivity is coming from. We are out of form. They are coming back into form. Our record against them recently is pony.
Let’s see. I fear the worst but hope for a draw.
Well, as you might have seen, I agree Bob, but I'm trying to accept the argument that others are making that it's highly premature to make a judgement on 2 iffy results.
I'm not really judging the results mind you, I'm judging the dodgy performances and the cynic (realist) in me knows that we've seen all this before. Still, what's another 24 hours to cling on to hope?? I'm suspending my disbelief and being positive.
That reminds me I’ve a load of end of season review videos knocking about somewhere but no way of watching them.
You still have a video recorder to watch those on SteveO?
I invested hours into those as a kid watching them over and over and over again. I used to love the goal celebrations Wrighty and Kevin Campbell would do together. So fucking cool.
I remember after a screamer by Merse at Old Trafford Martin Tyler on commentary said “Paul Merson is not a great goalscorer but he is a scorer of great goals”.
The few glimpses you’d get of the players at the training ground or GG speaking to them (the infamous clip of him talking to them about the 2 point deduction) and of course my beloved Anders tearing defences to shreds and scoring for fun.
I must find those beauties and get them transferred onto DVD. Absolute porn.

The positivity is coming from the previous 19 games and not just the last 2.
I don't subscribe to us being out of form as such. Everton was the lift of a new manager and, as Retro pointed out, Dyche knowing how to set them up against us. Brentford are a decent side that have taken points off City at the Emptyhad remember as well as other notable results this season.

Yep, I'm trying Clummo, I promise.
Take no notice of Bobby, he's a miserable old sod. I used to be like that, but I'm alright now. I'm on the happy pills until tomorrow night.
And City coming back into form. After a win at home against a shìt Villa preceeded by a loss at the Spuds where City were as bad as Villa. Some form there.
If I wasn't able to enjoy where we are right now, especially taking the previous 15 years into account, then I think I'd have to stop following football.

Give me some of those!
In the post now Bob, but you'll have to take a load though. I've OD'd on them, but hey man, we're gonna win by 4 clear goals tomorrow.
