We've been there paying a fortune for a foreign player that looked good......Pepe was his name, turned out well didn't it!
Signing Rice is not a gamble, he's an excellent player, only 24 and will get exponentially better playing at a top team (us) rather than Wet Spam. In 3 to 4 years time, he'll probably be worth 150m plus. In my opinion, he'd be the best signing since Sol Campbell. Even if he didn't look that great, we'll still be able to sell for what we pay for him because he is
A) A very good player, proven
B) Young
C) English
D) Experienced premiership player

We can dick around with £30-50m players and it will keep us in the fight for top 4.
If we want to win something meaningful.....ie: not just the FA Cup or league cup, then we need to recruit on a different level!
We need three 80-100m players to get us on the next level realistically unless we can pull off another couple of magical youngsters for pocket money...... Not sure that is likely to happen to be honest.

I'd cream my pants this summer if we signed Fresnida, Vlahovic, Rice and Mac Allister........and Ndicka on a free. How fucking amazing would that be!! Would cost maybe around 250m..... Supposedly Arteta will have 150m to spend plus sales...... We could do that....... I'll keep dreaming!! :barscarf:
Hang the fuck on! Who exactly did Pepe look good to? Most fuckers had never heard of him.

Also, don't misconstrue not buying English players because they are dear with "we have to buy foreign players because they are cheap even if they are shite". Its not a black and white either/or issue.

But why would you want to pay £100million plus £200K a week for Rice if you could get two foreign players as good as or better than him for the same price?

Personally I really don't rate Rice. For me he is average to goodish on occasion. He has demonstrated his ability to be average in the PL. Thats different to being "PL-proven" in my book. Will average improve us?

But as I said previously he might be better with us than he is with the shammers. But for me it's not worth the risk if Baldy Racoon Features is sticking to this rumored £150 million.
:coffeespit:

:rubchin:

Who the holy heck is Baldy Racoon Features??? Is it someone on here? :D
Retro....

Nah only fucking with ya. Its Kroenke at night after he takes the syrup off. During the the day he's Wiggy Raccoon Features.
:coffeespit:

Of course I should have known....DOH!!! :duh:

Ethan Nwaneri has signed for City.

Cash money to his parents. Plus a big deal for him.

Another youngster fucked up their career by taking the money option. He'll be playing at Middlesboro or somewhere on loan for a couple of years until he signs for some bottom 6 PL team at best. Muppet, give Omari Hutchison a call and ask him how Chelsea reserve reserve team is!!??

The transfer market truly has gone beyond madness, just heard on Sky that Brentford have valued Ivan Toney at £100Million ... Yes, he's good but he's nowhere near that kind of price.

I guess all Bets are Off !

Probably looking at somewhere between a 6 and 9 month ban next season too - think that rules him out of going anywhere.

In 1979 Trevor Francis became the first British footballer to command a £1 million transfer fee when he moved from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest.

Now 44 years later in 2023 players are going for £100 million plus. Fucking inflation!! :D :D

A predictable choice, decent manager, things have changed a lot since he was at Spuds though - we've got a lot better and Newcastle are a threat now, it won't be as easy at it was before.

I would say good luck but I wouldn't mean it, hope he crashes and burns while Boehly keeps sticking his nose in and making them even more of a mess than they already are.
