As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I think we want to spend a bundle but I can already see us being played like a fiddle by anyone we want a player from.
Bellingham joined madrid for an initial £92m fee rising to possible £115m with add ons, and the shammers want £100m for rice ??? If we are being played it is because we are bending over to get played I said on here a few weeks back that I would like for us to have put in a proper bid for bellingham - I'm not saying for one second that he would pick us over madrid, but lets at least send up a public flare on our ambition, and if nothing else it might rise the price and force rivals clubs to bid more than they want to. However instead we choose to go for the inferior of the two players, and look like we are going to have to pay more for the privilege
why on earth would we bid for a player who clearly didn't want to join us?
Was it clear that he didn't want to join?
Seems very small time to think that way
How long did we publicly court vlahovic when he was leaving fiorentina despite the fact that he was emphatically stating he wouldnt join us ?? Money talks at the end of the day and if you put enough down on the table you get your man. Last January mudryk was begging us to sign him and we didnt get him, so going after the players that do want to join us doesnt necessarily bear fruit either.
Anyway to go back to my original point, how can anyone justify spending more money on rice than what bellingham (a superior player by far) cost only 1 day ago ?
Arsenal will bid again after advantage on personal terms discussed with Declan Rice. No doubts. #AFC
Gunners consider £80m opening bid as way to start concrete negotiations with West Ham but also know timing will be crucial to avoid hijacks.
Bit more on #AFC's bid for Declan Rice.
Arsenal wanted to pay £80m over six years w/ a further £10m in add ons. West Ham viewed the add ons as unrealistic and rejected the first bid. 2nd bid still expected and Rice still keen on Arsenal.
The absolute hallmark of an outfit that reeks of not having a clue.
So even if only one other come in for Rice (or anyone for that matter) and they're paying up front because they identified their target and they want to get him.......we immediately go to the back of the line where we can count out 13.3 million in change from the concession stands and stare at the club with the successful bid walking away with said player.
Its been this way for god knows how long....when was the last time we pipped a rival to a top talent........
and again, if a rival is willing to sell to you, you should take that as a sign you shouldnt be buying, especially a club whose recently wiped your eye to the tune of Luiz and Willian and helmet head......although if we didnt learn those 3 lessons then welcome aboard Kai.
|| Good source says Chelsea have annoyed Caicedo’s agents & Brighton in the negotiations recently. Adds Arsenal are still there. United serious. Nothing about Arsenal pulling out. One source still says Arsenal feel they can land both Caicedo and Rice [Via - @SiPhillipsSport].

Real Madrid and Man City were in for him. Be realistic, why would he come to us?

That is a blatant plant by West Ham to get us to drive the price up.
And you don't think City will drop £110m on Rice within 24 hours? As usual we open with a piss take offer, and get snap rejected.
West Ham doesn't care who Rice goes to, they want the most money. The only thing that would get Rice over to Arsenal is if he says he only wants to join us. Even then, just fucking pay £100m and move onto the next target.
What world are we living in where 90 million is a piss take offer
It is a piss-take offer when you try and spread it over 6 years! And we offered £80m up front with addons. You can imagine how unachievable those targets will be.
Embarrassing and just riles up the seller.its a complete waste of time.we know they not ever going to accept it so go in with something close to what we know they want and go from there don't take the piss and irritate them like this would and make it harder.
So amateurish
I do t care if we get him or not but the offer is pathetic and small-time and why we find transfers drag in so much as we are walkers at it.
What's the betting we sign none of our 1st choices and xhaka stays. Fairly obvious that will happen!!

looking like that at the moment. when are we gonna get some decent negotiators?
It is also understood that Arsenal are willing to give West Ham first refusal on outgoing players later this summer. The Hammers have shown an interest in Eddie Nketiah in the past.
Arsenal bid worth £100million for Declan Rice imminent. Mikel Arteta believes Rice wants to join as West Ham hope for bidding war.

City don't want Rice FFS, they have Rodri and Phillips. It's a joke and a ride by wet Spam to try to force the price up. It seems to me very few are interested and those that are don't want to pay 100m!
If Rice really is set on joining Arsenal he may have to start getting stroppy to get a nice deal for less money.
