This Havertz deal is really pissing me off. On a number of levels. The wages is a big reason. As has been pointed out, how the fuck are we putting him on £220k a week when we had lowballed Saliba. Absolute clusterfuck of a decision.

As you say so many levels, but the biggest one is that he is nowhere near the level of striker WE NEED - if he was a 20+ goal a season striker then pay him whatever he wants, but this guy wont get 20 in two seasons combined

Timing will be crucial as Chelsea remain interested. Man United appreciate Lavia but still not advancing. City buy back clause only valid 2024.
Current contract expiring in June 2025 and no talks to extend as of today.
Arsenal priority remains Declan Rice.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
totally agree. all these super high wages should be performance related. if you score more than 20 goals a season we'll give you 220K a week.BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 10:05 amThis Havertz deal is really pissing me off. not over keen on him either. he's had a handful of games where he's played well but the rest of the time he's been pants or injured.rodders999 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 12:15 pmI’d be the happiest little boy in Toy Town if we can bin off Partey this summer.

Hope you’re right, I’m lukewarm (at best) about Rice but if his signing facilitates the departures of Xhaka and Partey it will be the greatest one in our history.BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 1:01 pmHe’s out as long as we get Rice. Arsenal have submitted an opening bid for Romèo Lavia today, as they guaranteed to the player days ago. Bid worth £40m.
#AFC
Southampton have Accepted the proposal, as per @David_Ornstein . plan to accept £40m fee for Lavia.
Liverpool, planning to bid as well

Kieran Tierney is looking more and more likely to STAY at Arsenal next season as talks with the club are progressing well.

Any chance we can hijack this meeting?mcdowell42 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 7:00 pmThere will be a meeting tomorrow Morning between Arsenal and Chelsea regarding the move for Kai Havertz. Personal terms have been agreed for the player, potentially putting him in the same salary bracket as Saka and Saliba. There is optimism that this deal will be done soon.

As I've been saying endlessly on the last 2 or 3 pages, this is beyond bonkers. There are zero grounds for signing this bloke. Three years of total underachievement at the chavs and if your £68m is accurate, then we're paying more than the chavs paid for him. How the fuck does that work?! As a relative failure, his value should have significantly dropped and I mean to about 20m. I don't want him at any price.

Last season Martinelli scored almost as many goals as he has in three years yet on 180k
Fucking joke
