ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

Does seem a lot of money, it will be especially annoying if chavs then go and sign Caicedo with the money we give them + £20m.

I can't be arsed to get all emotional about transfers any more though, too long in the tooth, I expect a title challenge, a long run in at least one domestic cup and minimum CL qtr finals next season.

Whoever we sign/sell won't change my expectations, time to act like a big club, stick the 'top 4 trophy' up your arse!.

It's probably time to accept he's coming and start praying he turns into a mixture of Rummenigge and Gerd (or Thomas) Muller for us

Meanwhile City are signing Kovacic for £30m. What on earth are we thinking. :banghead:

I heard he'd dropped the tic tac on his foot and broke his metatarsal........

Vieira has been using that tic tac as a kettle bell as part of his pre season bulk up routine.

So, we're not privvy to a clubs transfer process but I imagine it's something like this.....

- Post season meeting between the manager, 'Transfer team' and Josh Kranky
- Discuss and agree targets, budget, expectations etc
- Agree on maximum bids and wage offers for each target along with structure of payments etc
- Agree on 2nd/3rd bids if offers refused, going up to the agreed maximum
- Agree on secondary targets if Primary does not work out

Manager says to the media - We want to get our targets in quickly in the window

Transfer window opens, within a few days we make an offer for our Primary target
It's refused
4 days later there is no other offer confirmed

What the fuck is going on? Why does it take so long to make a second offer when you must have discussed this situation, why wait and let someone else come in for your primary targets? Are we waiting for Arsene Wenger to authorise these transfers?

Seriously, Arsenal must be one of the shittest clubs at doing transfers in European football!! :banghead: :banghead:

This Havertz deal is really pissing me off. On a number of levels. The wages is a big reason. As has been pointed out, how the fuck are we putting him on £220k a week when we had lowballed Saliba. Absolute clusterfuck of a decision.

As you say so many levels, but the biggest one is that he is nowhere near the level of striker WE NEED - if he was a 20+ goal a season striker then pay him whatever he wants, but this guy wont get 20 in two seasons combined
a work colleague of mine is a Chelsea season ticket holder - he is absolutely delighted that Arsenal want to buy Havertz.
tells you all you need to know!

I am all for PL players coming BUT this is a proven PL flop. Total waste of money. if this is as good as we can get then next season is a write off.

Looking forward to when the transfer window opens so we can start signing some players.

What do you mean 'it's been open for a week already' :D

🚨Understand that William Saliba's holiday is ending Thursday. He's due to fly back into London on Friday to finalize the details for the new contract he's lined up to sign, solidifying his future at Arsenal. He WILL wear the NUMBER 2, this is confirmed to me by multiple sources.

🚨 || Thomas Partey is one of the names targeted within the Saudi League [Via - @Nawaf_STATS].

🚨 Arsenal have given Thomas Partey permission to explore a transfer to the Saudi Pro League, 90min understands. Arsenal are also hopeful of potentially even turning a profit by selling for in excess of the £45m they paid in 2020. [@GraemeBailey] #afc
