ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I told you weeks ago we were going to hose cash on transfers. :barscarf:
I'd hold back from blowing me muck all over the forum's tits there Bobby.... we've heard this every summer since 1978.

But also never forget flushing Lobotomy Clive down the shitter is far far more important than ANY signings. You flush that used tampon down the drain and we instantly become a better team. Fucking instantly. 8)
Normally the cash hose has resembled one of those atomizers you water indoor plants with. This year it has come good though. :barscarf:
Indeed it has. :barscarf:

I just wish we had spunked £170million (plus wages) on two top class players rather than a chav reject and a goodish but not top class and inconsistent player like Rice. Hopefully Rice will improve by playing with our better players like a few on here suggest but I'm far from convinced he will. Still, fingers crossed for him. 8)

More importantly though, has Lobotomy Clive fucked off yet? :censored:

That’s partly because he hasn’t learned to write!

As you know, I wasn't particularly keen on signing Rice and certainly not for the crazy money it's cost us, but it's the chav that I just cannot understand on any level. Massive risk given the fee we paid and a risk with nothing in the last 3 years to justify it. He's ours now so I hope he turns out to be the second coming of Dennis Bergkamp, but an absolutely baffling decision.

I questioned yesterday how the media can reported "deal agreed" when apparently we want to pay over 5 years and they want it paid in full by 2025 - three years is a HUGE difference in a deal like this. I know that this practice has always gone on to some degree, but the chavs have totally skewered the landscape on deals now by getting clubs to agree to transfer fee's being paid over a long period, and tbh I dont think it should be allowed - if clubs dont have the money (or at least a large percentage of it), then dont play the big boys coming in with bids that you cant back up. That being said, the shammers are looking for it in full over 2 years and that seems a short period of time to pay 100m.

And will you take by installments over five years?

Well maybe, but that works both ways doesn't it.

I'll be delighted to be wrong and for the signings to be a huge success and I'll happily admit to an error of judgement. Mind you, if you guys are wrong, there's no upside to that. We'll see.
