Welcome Declan Rice

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

🚨 || I’m told that Rice’s transfer is basically done now. Everything’s ready for his unveiling, everything I’m hearing is positive. Arsenal want to make a big deal out of this transfer as it really is a serious moment in their rise under Arteta [Via - @DeanJonesSoccer].

That's stinks just a little bit of horseshit to my mind. Signing Declan Rice "really is a serious moment in our rise"? Sorry, no. He is not a major signing under Arteta or anyone else. Let's not bullshit ourselves. No one else was in for him. Forget citeh's half ass bid. It was a pisstake to bump the price and we walked into it.

"Serious moment"? :rubchin:

Signing Dennis Bergkamp was a serious moment in our rise. 8)

Rice is a goodish player, but nowhere near the top ten in the world, and nowhere near the level of previous Arsenal midfielders like Pires, Parlour, Merson, Ozil, Rocastle, Petit, Ljungberg, Vieira, Brady - the list goes on....

Hopefully he ends up earning the right to get his name mentioned on that list above, but as I said earlier let's not bullshit ourselves - until that happens.

🎙️| @FabrizioRomano on Declan Rice: “The rumours that circulated today on social media about Arsenal or West Ham walking away from the deal, at the moment, I'm told this is not correct while I'm speaking.

“The medical has not been booked yet, but it will happen in the next days if everything goes to plan. So, no worries, Arsenal fans. Declan Rice is really close and it’s about the final discussions on the payment terms to get it done. Be patient.” [via YouTube] #afc

Officially passed Joe Cole in the list of historic boring transfer stories - by the time he fucking signs I'd have fallen asleep dreaming of Yann m'Vila and Higuain !

This is just brinkmanship now. West Ham are squeezing us and hoping we fold. It is quite possible this falls through.
