Towards the end of the season Martinelli and Saka were getting double marked at least the midfielder was getting back and cutting off the jink inside . All tactics get nullified in the end , defenders don't like getting caught twice.
This year will be harder for them , that's why Pep got Haaland to change the point of attack City top scorers 21/22 Mahrez and De Bruyne 22/23 Haaland . We need to do something different too.

Lock it down Luke ,nothing to see here, only outgoings from now on 8)

I would agree that it does look that way - not enough goals in this team imo
We scored 88 league goals last Yr, only city scored more 94

And last year was a freak year when all the so called top teams had by their standards a very poor season - we are too reliant on our wingers imo cos we dont have a top quality goal scoring number 9
You can challenge for a league without being reliant on one striker we did in 98 and city did year before haaland . I still think we will buy a couple more but will depend on outgoings.

Augie agree we need a top quality no9,cant see it happening though, reckon you would have to pay 80m upwards for a quality striker unless Mpappe wants to slum it

Kane has scored 25 odd goal a season for the last 6 years or so , hasn’t made them a title challenging team has it ?

It’s the best Team that wins the league, it doesn’t have to be one person who scores the goals, over reliance on one player can be nullified

In fairness though Stuart that's because he is surrounded by too much shit. If Fat Tongue had been with us last season (and Lobotomy Clive injured for anfield) we would have won the league, I reckon.

You need a great team but you need to add that 20+ PL goals a season to that team. Its what we missed last year.

Maybe so, I think we just needed to be more clinical, in front of goal - it’s been a bit of a habit that we create loads, and don’t always out them away and finish teams off. - harks back to Wenger days, think cup final v Liverpool, much as it hurts me, we pulverised them and lost.

Even Henry and Pires pissing about with that penalty annoyed me as were only 1-0 up.

Knocking the ball about to get the ole’s and doing nutmegs and the like also grind my gears -

If Jesus was more clinical he would get that 20 goals a season, he may have achieved it were it not for his injury, we will never know.
Eddie will never get that amount, nor I fear Balogun

I think that's the problem though, none of them are capable of hitting 20+ PL goals a season. With the signings so far (and getting rid of Lobotomy Clive) I think if we could add a striker with that capability we'd have a shot at pushing for the league and certainly a cup next season.

I keep thinking imagine we had a Wrighty in this team.... 8)

That is exactly the point. We aren't clinical enough in front of goal, because we don't have a clinical, natural goalscorer. Jesus is a good footballer and can cause panic in the opposition defence, but the number of very clear goal scoring chances he misses is schocking. No surprise to quite a few of us on here, because he was no different at City.

I've said on here before that I've always believed that you should invest as much as you possibly can on a goalkeeper and a striker. They are the two positions on the pitch that can single-handedly get points from games that the team does not deserve to get. It's a big part of my beef about Ramsdale. In my opinion, Jesus is not the man to be our lone centre forward and the lack of a 20+ a season striker will be a weakness that might well cost us.

No-one hit 20 prem goals in 98

Also 3 seasons before Haaland, top scorers were, Gundaland, De Bruyne and Stirling.

Here's a good one for Sunday morning. Why don't we get Kane?

yeah, yeah, I know what you're gonna say but think about it for a minute... He would be the answer to what you've all been saying about a 20+ goal a season striker. If we could get him for £60m it'd be a good purchase and make us hot contenders for everything. :D

He wouldn't have to move or change the kids schools. He's a proven PL scorer and he's also England captain.
I think that answers just about every whinge or criticism on here if you read back through the thread.

C'mon Harry (or Fat Tongue) Sol did it, so why not be a winner with the Arsenal. :barscarf:

Spurs fan on twitter yesterday stating West Ham were mugs selling to a London rival and they would never sell to Arsenal stating Campbell doesn't count as it was a free transfer. I had to point out Willie Young and Pat Jennings to him, deathly silence

In fairness i forgot football didnt start until 1992.
