ARSENAL
Favourite club: CHELSEA (8 players signed, £100m) - William Gallas, Lassana Diarra, Yossi Benayoun (loan), Petr Cech, David Luiz, Willian, Jorginho, Kai Havertz.
£100m and you couldnt claim even one of them was a success![]()

Totally agree: Diarra was a very good player, but Wenker wouldn't give him enough game time, whereas he was happy to play the likes of Breathing Injury Mong who ended up requiring his own hospital wing at the Bowl.

Diarra was typical of the strong characters that Wenger couldn't handle. It's why he almost never bought established stars (and if he did, it usually ended in tears), but went for youngsters, or players that needed a way out (Henry). That way they were beholden to him and he could be the father figure.
The man was a coward, with the spiteful edge that weak men have.

Very Insightful RG and True. That's why when he does interviews these days and the interviewer and those in the audience all start fawning over him etc... It makes me puke. First 10 years Great! brilliant! ... he then turned into an Egomaniacal Despot...

Benayoun wasn’t bad for us, to be honest. Arguably signed a little too late in order for him to be really good, but I remember him doing well for us. Better than most in that era.augie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 8:38 amSince premier league era began (football didnt exist before then), we have bought more players from the chavs than we have any other club in the world

From what I remember, Wenger was playing Flamini instead of Diarra even though everyone knew he was fucking off on a free at the end of the season to Milan.I liked Diarra and we should have kept him instead of Song.
Even though he was excellent in the midfield with Fabregas, Diarra would have been mint for us, and the added bonus we wouldn't have even seen Denilson or Song (shudder) anywhere near the team.

Yep, I agree. Just looking at the man infuriates me and the fawning does indeed make you sick.
Ego was his fatal flaw. He could never admit to being wrong, which means you're doomed to not only live with your mistakes, but to make them again. Much of it is tied up with the fear of failure, yet the irony is that the uncontrolled ego inevitably leads to the failure that it's desperate to avoid.

Arsenal are not active in Romeo Lavia race now as Thomas Partey has good chances to stay.
#AFC
Saudi clubs approached Gunners days ago, Juventus called in June but never close to €40/45m package requested by Arsenal.
Huge bid or Thomas stays. Arteta, happy with him.

So after looking at him for the past few seasons captain black decides that he wants to move him on this summer, but now that he is back with the squad for past couple of weeks arteta now wants to keep him ?? Where is the planning ?? What can he have shown in the last 2 weeks that he hasnt shown in past few seasons ? Its like arteta is making things up as he goes along

Last night pep's cone boy rightly said that we have a squad of 30 players and that isnt sustainable - how many of those are attacking midfielders and wingers though ?? He seems to still want to sign another winger or attacking midfielder and for life of me I cannot see why cos we have a bus load of them already

He seems intent on emulating the Pep "no number 9" team. Maybe he ought to be looking at Pep's current Erling Haaland team.
We need a proper number 9, but also still need a proper solid centre midfielder, whether Partey stays or not (I hope he doesn't).

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Parteybwas immense 2/3rd last season utter shote last 3rd when his issues arose again.
I thought all investigations had all been dropped now which correlates with the timing that we are now not looking to offload him or is my former point not yet correct?
If it is correct I think it ex0lains thr change of tact from thr club.
If he stays and is first 2/3s of last season partey and rice hits the ground running that's a massively strong centre midfield IMHO...Still no real back up mind...

Playing mantis!
Why have you got a picture from the Fat Boy Slim single/CD Album from way back when?
Just Wondering!
Yes all (rumours of (any investigations etc ) regarding someone rumoured to be employed by Arsenal FC have all been discontinued as there was No Foundation to any of them.
So perhaps a certain players Bad Form coincided with those investigations being ramped up by the Met (Who as we all know are as Corrupt as the Manchester Police Force) All a Bunch of Lying Back-Hander Taking Criminal Cun.TS...
