I don't know why everyone screams about Vieira. He put in a nice dirty tackle and then scored a cracking goal. Not sure what you're all beefing about, it looks like we've unearthed a real gem.

I skim read this post and saw “screams”, “dirty tackle” and “beefing”. Thought I had ended up on some sort of S&M thread.

Me too. I had a grip of myself before I realised what I was looking at!
I hope you lubed it up beforehand

Also one final thing to pull you up on me auld china, if we’d lost that game last night do you think the fact that it kicked off at 4am would have prevented this place from finger blasting it’s own arsehole?

Would it fuck!

I give the same significance to the result last night as I gave to the one on Saturday - FUCK ALL!!

It’s all part of the preparation for game 1, end of story.

Verily Tis True Rodders Me Ole Mucker!

It'll be interesting NOTTTTTTTT! To see how all those getting their lace panties in a twist (mention no names :D  ) When we play $hitty the Oil Behemoths in the Charity Shield next week.

Whilst it will be another Good Test to see how the new version of our squad is gelling etc - It will only carry importance if we Lose and / or th4e manner in which play.

I don't know how many have seen this Post-Barcawhores game interview with Arteta, he explains why Balogun was training alone, also he does indeed Drop quite a Few Hints as to how he now see's the team, also whether we may to off-load any more of the deadwood (he mentions No Names) and / or If there will be further signings...

Augie I love Tierney but had a seminal moment with him the season before last when we tanked top 4 down the stretch, a large part of the blame for which can be apportioned to him being out crocked, AGAIN.

We tried to plug the gap by playing Travares, Cedric and even Xhaka there but it was a fucking disaster. He can’t be relied on to stay fit for any extended period of time, which he’s proved beyond doubt both during his time with Celtic and again with us, so I’ve drawn a line in the sand with him and moved on.

You can also add Tomi and Partey to that list, I’m also fucking done with those two and if ESR and Zinchenko continue their trend of having long spells out injured this season they can go and get fucked too.

My tolerance level with players who don’t contribute due to recurring injury is extremely low, I’m all Diaby’d out shall we say.

I give zero fucks if I see a team sheet, pre season or otherwise, where Tomi, Partey or Tierney aren’t starting because the more they do play the sooner they’ll get injured.

Seemingly tierney missed ZERO GAMES through injury last season - that was news to me, but it is being widely stated as fact in the mainstream media over past few days. Of course the flip side of that is that it is harder to get injured if he aint getting game time, but it is an important fact if true

Honestly losing to the manc c.unts in pre-season matters fcuk all to me - losing in the manner we did really fcuks me off though. As was said by someone earlier, we have a soft underbelly reputation that we really need to shake, and if we had gone out and got beaten by 2 or 3 but gave them a lesson in physical dominance, then I would have been ecstatic last Saturday night. As the old saying goes, "why put off until tomorrow something you can do today ?" - if we need to show a new steely backbone to the football world, then the time to do it is in the next game, whether that game be regular season or pre-season game, and imo we needed to lay down a marker against those scummy c.unts

Ive only just caught the highlights, Glass half full it was a decent run out with a few nice finishes.....fitness worked on etc etc

glass half empty....ramsdales positioning would worry me, he seems to be all over the place and his over all decision making seems to be very poor.

Ive always said Seaman didnt in general need spectacular saves as his reading of the game and his positional awareness in between the sticks meant he didn't need spectacular saves (apart from the obvious ones).

Ramsdale seems to be the opposite, maybe a good shot stopper but not a great goalkeeper if that makes sense. lets hope thats worked on come the 1st real match of the season.

Think you’ve cracked it! Someone needs to learn me how to post a gif on here so I can fire up the Roll Safe guy meme saying I can’t get injured if I never play 8)

To be honest I’m very concerned about the chances of ESR managing to stay fit, I’d be amazed if doesn’t miss large chunks of the season with injury, he just seems the type sadly.

Zinchenko I give zero chance of staying fit, he’s incredibly injury prone, has he even kicked a ball pre season yet? A lovely ball player but just can’t be relied upon sadly.

I get that Rodders, but I'm a firm believing in winning being a habit and that we ought to be going to out to win all our pre season games. If you remember last summer, we had a fabulous pre season, we were on fire, scoring bundles of goals and slaughtering teams. It has to imbue the team with confidence and belief and we certainly carried the form into that new season.

I've always believed the same about domestic cup games, including the league cup. Put your best team out to win every game...it builds confidence, consistency and winning becomes a habit. Let's be honest, resting players for games has never seemed to help win anything else.

This is exactly right xgt. We've had some cracking keepers at the Arsenal (well, pre fucking Wenger) and of them all, the best exponent of what you say was Pat Jennings. Made the game look easy and the ball always seemed to go straight to him. As you say, that's all about angles and positioning.

As I said (many times  ) on the Ramsdale thread, he's the type of keeper that makes me nervous and will make the defence nervous. Instead of being calm and reassuring, he's chaotic, with his hollering and arm waving, fist pumping etc. Always reminds me of Pickford, who is another shot stopper who is prone to fuck ups and has dodgy positioning.

Apart from the fuck ups that Ramsdale is prone to, there's another issue for me. Keepers can concede goals that aren't fuck ups as such, but you look and wonder whether they shouldn't have done better with trying to stop the shot. Ramsdale falls into this category. Two of the goals at Utd last season and both goals away to West Ham were not mistakes, but he could have done a lot better in keeping the ball out. That was not just my opinion, but was expressed by the pundits too and by some on here. There were other examples during the season...another that springs to mind was De Bruyne's opening goal away to City.

He'll make the occasional spectacular save, but the best keepers keep out those efforts that can pose questions if you let them in. Consistency and dependability is what you need in a keeper, not a bloke where you aren't sure what's coming next. He'll cost us.

Seriously Augie can't you see and accept that preseason games are sometimes about trying different things? Playing Kiwior and Timber is about seeing how they perform in that position not that they are above KT in the pecking order.

It's exploring alternatives should we ever need to use them there.

Well that's the way I see it but what do I know!

So in ten of the starting positions pre season is about doing the same things as last season and playing people in the same positions, but at left back it is all about trying things out in case zinchenko and tierney are both unavailable ??? Is that honestly how you see it ? Cant see that making the difference between runners up and winners tbh.

I think arteta wants rid of tierney but wont come out and say it and is trying to get tierney to come demanding a move so that he can say that he didnt want to lose tierney - I suspect tierney knows arteta's game and would be open to a move but doesnt want to please el basque by looking for a move, so in the meantime he is being demeaned by not even getting a start in pre season games, and arteta doesnt get money for his transfer kitty by selling tierney. Basically no-one is winning here
Didn't you also say he wanted rid of martinelli and saliba to name just 2?

Spot on.

Although disappointing to see Rob 'nice bloke'car crash footballer on the tour and getting game time

As long as this pubber is still at the club we will never be serious contenders. He shouldn't be back up anymore so wtf are we doing taking him on this tour let lomenplayimg him. Accept any bid. At least the likes of tavares showed something out on loan and have a modicum of raw talent. This guys is just shit. I shouldn't hate him as its not his fault but I do as he's cost us countless times. If he had anything about him he say no boss I won't play I will just be cheerleader as he's utter gash.

Ahhh the Game for Ukraine…..played at Stamford Bridge…….the ground once owned by a Russian War Criminal who had all his assets frozen because of his association with Putin. Such a beautiful thing.

He was training out in America but didn’t play, so he can’t be 100%, I thought I saw somewhere that he’s been given permission to play 5 minutes of the charity game though.

Major worry that he’s not robust enough to play a run of games without picking up another injury and he’s now in real jeopardy of going on “the list” with your buddies ESR and Tierney
