I understand why a player would chase the money (even if I dont agree with it), but why would a club sell one of their first choice centre backs for such a paltry sum just 10 days before window closes ?

It's like the whole 'ground improvements' thing of the early 90s didn't happen with them. Absolute slum isn't it? Went there a few times in the 90s/2000s; shit seats with no back,a fucking supermarket in the ground, rubbish all over the place, floodlights going out, huge queues for drinks and all looking like a footballing version of an abandoned housing estate.
