ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

🚨 An unnamed Saudi Arabian club have 'positioned itself' on Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe with a transfer fee being 'negotiated'. Pepe has turned down a three-year contract at Besiktas.

If this useless dud and his vacant expression isn't prepared to sign for Besiktas, or whoever else might be daft enough to offer him a contract, then we have to accept the monumental fuck up we made with his £72 m signing and either pay him an extortionate amount to fuck off as a free agent, or keep paying him to sit at home until his contract expires...a la Winston Bogarde. As painful and expensive as that would be, we don't have an alternative imo.

The worst thing we could do is invite him back into the fold and include him in training etc, as though he has a chance of re-kindling his career with us. The message that would send to the rest of the squad would be that we're weak as fuck and that they hold all the cards. Sure, any of them could stop performing and sit out their contract, but few footballers want to sacrifice their career. That he appears prepared to do so, speaks volumes for the useless prat.

I've seen the comments on here that this is the gamble that the chavs are taking with their 8 year contracts, but I'd be amazed if there weren't clauses inserted that gave the club a way out in this type of situation. For some odd reason, we seem to be the naive club that walks into these disasters and never learns from the mistakes.

I don't believe anyone is daft enough to offer money for that dodo but if they are, no matter what they offer, snap their fucking hands off.

Are we 8 days from the end of this transfer window ? Doesnt seem to be any new striker on the horizon, and nothing seems immenent on the departure front either. This transfer window is fast becoming a major disappointment I would suggest

For me it's a mixed bag. The new keeper will hopefully keep Ramsdale from turning into LehmannTard MK2 or maybe even be better than him. Rice is a good signing but we were massively fucked paying a hundred million for him. Granit Havertz (I think Retro came up with that and I pissed myself laughing  8) ) is 65million we may as well have stuffed up Kerry Katona's burst kebab of death.

I'd love to see a striker come in and Peepee fuck off but doubtful now. :|

I still cannot understand why he hasn't given Balogun a chance - Just 20 - 30 minutes instead of Eddie (another sitter missed) the Feather...Unless he really is worse,; if so to keep those 'interested' clubs paying well over the odds....

We "Need" a No9 Proper Striker... Jesus ain't it either... :banghead:

I'd love to see vieira fcuked off even if it was only on loan - as long as he is on the bench he is a risk to this team cos el basque will absolutely give him game time

I understand the complexities of moving players on sometimes, but there are players still in the club who are clearly not rated so why not just get what we can for them and move them on ? I dont have the same anti Holding issue that many supporters do, but he is clearly (at best) now somewhere around 5th or 6th choice centre back so shouldnt we just take what we can get and move him on for his and the clubs sake ? What benefit is there in penny pinching at this stage ? Same applies to a few other players like cedric and tavares and pepe of course, but it seems like we are trying to squeeze every last penny out of buying clubs, but at this stage of the transfer window I would call that risky or stupid - if we are that desperate to raise funds then we need to take what is on offer or risk being stuck with unwanted players, plus IF we plan on using the raised funds to bring in other players, then we are running out of time to get deals done
