With a bit of Arteta-style team selecting, I can make a dream team  out of ex-chav players I have witnessed at Arsenal.
Cech, a back four of Gallas, Luiz, Pates, and Diarra.A midfield of Willian, Hollins, Hudson, and Benayoun.Havertz and Nketiah up front. Most of them either flopped at Chelsea or their best days were over. Benayoun was the exception. Nketiah was let go by them for being too small.

You’re forgetting the best one of the lot John…George Graham. Quality footballer.

This signing crap from them is a fairly recent thing.

:D You are right Retro but too good for my team of Chav rejects. I was a bit too young to appreciate the stroller and can only remember seeing him in the 71 final on the Telly. I did not start going to Arsenal games until the 1977 Cup game against Coventry. 40,000 crowd, very loud North Bank, Supermac and I saw a punch up in the clockend. :barscarf:

Thing is as much as Arteta definitely has his flaws and other foibles that seem to have got people firmly against him already, he has improved all those players capable of improving (*)

So I am hopeful that what he saw in Havertz can be brought out and that Arteta can indeed work his expertise at improving players on Havertz, time will surely tell.

Also those who are already condemning Havertz (and / or Arteta) will always find something to criticise in someone ie: Arteta and / or Havertz regardless of much they change & improve, simply because they cannot or will not admit that they were not right.

WTFK (Who The fuck Knows). :?
Think this is a bit harsh obg. Yes augster won't give credit to Tetsworth if we wine the treble and got to sleep with his kunis fantasy, and Retro likes to go on a bit too ;) but still harsh on some of us havertz bashes.

Kai-live (klive?) !! Is being judged on 3 years of meh and 3 games...and for me the disruption of the line up to shoehorn him in.

I had drunk the kool aid on tets and was so optimistic this season but all gone down the pan by this a making him starter from the get go not introducing him gradually, and changing compleltey how we set up and personal to for him in and it appears to have clearly weakened us.

Oh and c the fee...nothing to justify 65m even I this crazy market given the 3 years of meh and lack of competition to sign him and the need(and delight) of the chavs to get rid and fund their own signings. And that 65 m could have gone on far more areas of need, eg striker...Jackson at chvs looks a steal for example.

Thats my beef and I suspect many others. I could just about give him time were he being introduced gradually even with that big fee but to put him in the xi and disrupt us compleltey to do so, based in 3 years of crap, he has to hit the ground running.

So far he's looked awful and clearly upset our style.
I hope he comes good but compleltey disagree with how he's been introduced and personally think he never will come good and is the new Clive (klive)

Also I upset over the transfer window even without woodies injury I think we are short in defense (again) given the outgoings and find it baffling no actual decent striker is signed.

Talking of harsh…sounds a bit harsh on me! :box:

I’ve been saying nothing that you haven’t already said and say again in this post. I wasn’t a fan of Arteta and still maintain that a club with the supposed aspirations of the Arsenal should ever appoint a novice manager.

However, like you, I certainly cut him slack last year and happily admitted that we’d performed far better than I thought we could. I’ve said elsewhere on here that I regained a passion that I genuinely thought might have been destroyed for good by the toxic Old Fraud and was more excited by the prospect of this coming season than I had been for almost 20 years. Sadly, the purchase of Havertz, Arteta’s hubris in disrupting the side to fit him in and the missed opportunities to strengthen the side in key areas (despite spending £200m) has punctured my belief.

Augie, come on mate, read the post. My point was that I wasn't a fan of Arteta and didn't agree with his appointment in the first place, as he was a novice.

I'm not offering novice status as an excuse for decisions he makes now...in fact, it was never an excuse even then. The Arsenal should simply never appoint a novice imo.

No one is saying he is. He was a novice when we signed him. That's the point.

Gooners- I want to know your thoughts on the transfer window

Post by Leila1998 »

HI guys!

I'm interested in hearing the thoughts of Arsenal fans on the club's business this window and opinions on the transfer window as a whole. Who was overpriced? Who will be the best value for money? Which club had the best window?

Share your thoughts in this short survey:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks in advance
