Abject failure. Get rid of this soulless cyborg. Doesn't have a clue about man-management and human nature.

I will defend Arteta on one thing - he knows how PR works
It will be interesting to see him wriggle his way out of what looks like it will be a difficult month.

He sucks people in trying to sound intelligent if that's what you mean. Bullshit baffles brains and he will have lots of little reasons as to why we lost yesterday which will appease the superfans who think he walks on water. The reality is that we lost because our keeper fucked up and we didn't have the cojones as Deeney would say for the fight. Players downed tools and started playing tip tap modern day Wenger shiteGunner Rob wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 10:03 amI will defend Arteta on one thing - he knows how PR works

im just noticing this morning as i scan around the web, Arteta is seemingly able to get away with a lot due to the utter shiteness of the Manc's.
The knives are out for ten hag and his players (or lack thereof) all over the place meaning the very visible failings of arteta are a less attractive prospect to report on.
I could be wrong though.

Maybe the Champions League is a step too far for him.
I’m not in the Arteta out camp but I am still struggling to get behind him.
If it all goes totally wrong this season we should probably make a change next summer.
It not that arteta is a arrogant fucker trying to be too clever with too many favorites, no clue about in hame management, and no clue about running players into the ground like saka.
I don't think arteta is clueless I think he's stubborn and egotistical like wenger and doubles down when everyone is criticising, see havertz, see no striker, see Eddie, see viera, see no esr, see changing our system this season and it not working. If he got rid of that trait he could be very good. He won't so he isn't.
The only hope in him leaving is barca or city coming in for him fooled by this undeserved elite badge the media have given him for coming 2nd last year.

You know, it's the 12 year old attitude of grown men when it comes to football that used to amaze me...it doesn't anymore. The ability to assess a manager, player, or a side by any more than the colour of the shirt and the last result is completely absent amongst so many supporters. It's the kind of mindset that kept Wenger in place for at least 10 years too long.
As glad as I am that we beat City, I'm not deluded enough to think it was a cracking performance. Neither team played well and the most I took from the game was that Arteta might have realised that we needed to keep it tight and a bit deeper defensively, rather than imagining that we could out-football City and ending up beaten yet again. I'll need to see more of that to believe it's dawned on him, but hopefully it has.
We nicked the win with a heavily deflected goal. Good, but nobody should be getting carried away. We haven't played well this season and certainly not a patch on the early part of last season, but we've hung in there to be joint top. We going to have to improve quickly to stay there, because you can't keep getting away with iffy performances, it eventually comes home to roost.
If we lose at Chelsea, will you follow up your last post with "A fortnight is a long time in football"? Somehow I doubt it.

Blimey you just can't please some people can you. We have lost one game all season. In terms of points. I believe if we beat Chelski and Sheff Utd we will be in a better position than we were last season, which was the best start to a season in years.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 2:21 pmnut flush gooner wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 7:59 amA week is a long time in football.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 1:56 pmthe playing mantis wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 12:41 amNo chance. What did you expect us to do for the City game, given the personnel we had to start that day open up and go toe to toe with CIty? Football is all about knowing when to put your foot on the pedal and when you need to be more cautious, George Graham was famous for navigating games like Sunday.
We have an international break that seems like its going to work out well for two of our main players to finally get a rest (especially Saka), and hopefully come back to play against Chelski.
How many times have we had Partey, Rice and Odegaard starting in midfield this season. Given that can you not even acknowledge that Rice has made a huge difference in filling the void when Partey got his expected injuries. With last seasons squad I am almost certain we wouldn't have our current points tally in the league.
This is the thing, we haven't apart from maybe against PSV played at the sorts of levels we did in the first half of last season, and yet here we are well and truly in the mix. That's something to embrace not to be a miserable old git about. You talk about maturity, there is no worse trait in a fan of a big club than being entitled.
Progression doesn't go up in a straight line, it comes with setbacks for many reasons.

Ok the first part in red...comprehension isn't a strong point with you is it? I'm never sure whether you deliberately get the wrong end of the stick, or you genuinely fail to understand. My point was very clear, that Arteta did absolutely the right thing not going toe to toe and trying to out-football City, consequently leaving plenty of space to get at our defence. That's the mistake that he usually makes, just as Wenger used to and is why we had a long losing run against them. This time we sat deeper and got into a tight defensive shape. It meant we created very little, but also contained City. I made the same point at the end of the match thread. Quite how you can construe that I was being critical of taking a more cautious approach, fuck knows.

No sense of entitlement from me mate, I've been following this club too long to have grand expectations. As for maturity, I wasn't the one seeing a scruffy, deflected goal victory as some sea change. Let's hope it doesn't come crashing down at Chelsea eh? Still, what is it you said, "If we beat Chelsea and Sheff Utd, we will be in a better position than last season".....those "if's" are a bloody nuisance aren't they. I reckon "if" we win every remaining game this season, we'll win the league. Easy game ain't it.

Second red part...If Partey being out has such a big effect, then we are in trouble, because I think he needs replacing. We've dug in and are joint top, but we won't keep getting away with under performing.
Out of interest, do you think Arteta will never pick Havertz in his first 11, because if he does, then one of those three won't play...unless he re-employs the masterstroke of Partey at right back and drops Gabriel again.

I had to post that reply in 3 separate posts, swapping around the second and third part and altering wording, because I kept getting the fucking Internal Server message.
Can someone get that sorted out, it's a fucking pain in the arse. Spend a while typing a long post and it won't submit.

Actually, I did think that myself.
