As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Right, I'm gonna have my tin hat on after this, but fuck it, here goes....
I hate the scum as much as anyone on here, but credit where it's due and they put up a hell of a fight last night. Nine men for most of the second half and until the chavs got the 3rd goal at the death, it looked more likely that Tottenham would equalise. It looked as though Dier had, but was very marginally offside. My main point is that Postecoglu has made a huge difference to that team and it shows you the influence a manager can have.
They were poor last season and I thought they'd be fucked once Kane walked, but they've made some good signings and the manager has also re-introduced players like Bissouma who have made a difference. I like both fullbacks and even though Udogie is a little raw and wild, he's only young and is going to be useful. As for Porro, I'd take him at our place tomorrow. When they bought Vicario, the keeper, I thought he'd be crap, but unfortunately I've been impressed. When I saw he'd come from Empoli, who are a complete nothing side and that he'd been bouncing around other no mark teams, then I expected what we're getting from Raya. I thought that if he were any good, then he'd have been snapped up by one of the Italian big boys, but looks like they've missed out. Let's hope he's having a purple patch and that the wheels will come off.
Bottom line, Postecoglu seems to be everything that Legohead isn't. He seems like a proper bloke who can inspire his players, unlike Arteta, who is a robotic buzz-word and jargon caricature...a Wenger clone. The scum are giving it 110% and playing for the manager and while I sincerely hope that you boys are right and it goes all spursy again, I have my doubts.
Anyway, tin hat on and I'll wait for the flak.
But they are still the scum. It will go spursy. It always does.
Remember when "elite" coach Poxychinos was being hailed as the best manager in the world? And Wenger was being slagged off everywhere especially on here? They were in the ascendancy apparently, every year was going to be "their year" and we were a busted flush. In that time period or thereabouts the scum won the grand total of zero trophies. We won four FA Cups. Their best period apparently and one of our worst and still it was four FA Cups to nothing.
Angie Hippopotamusadopolus will fail in the end. Its what the scum do.
I do hope you're right old mate, but I can't help liking fat Ange. Heresy, I know.

Facking hell Retro!!..ban him db10!
They've shithoused there way thru games by the skin of their teeth. And played relegation fodder bar us Brentford scousers and united, all of which they should have lost...that they didnt was down to either var or the shortcomings of thr oppo...they have scraped by in a few of the relegation fodder games too and not looked good in most...
And yesterday was all about chavs awfulness...any decent t team would have scored 7 or more against them...complete ineptitude on chavs part not to tear them apart. Oh and vicario made no saves you wouldn't expect any keeper to make.
The standard of thr league is telling with us and them near the top we have been crap all season they apparently amazing yet look at the tables...and also take out the flukey results they have had and they would be fcked...the draft dodger always has a hot spell and its come now...there bang average.

I have the same discussion with my son. I have not been that impressed with them and they have had a lot of good luck up until yesterday. When a team goes down to 9 men they often fight for every last ball. Liverpool nearly beat them with 9. I am not ruling them out for getting close to fourth place only because it is a shite league but like us, I can not see them contending for the top 2 which will be City and the Dippers.

Don't worry Mantis, I almost asked DB to ban me myself.
I'm not suggesting they're world beaters, just that I thought they'd really struggle when Kane left, but in fairness, Postecoglu has made a big impact. He revitalised players that had been sidelined or never really given a chance, such as Bissouma (who many of us on here thought we should have signed from Brighton and I'd certainly take him ahead of Partey) and he's made signings that are working, despite being relatively unknown.
As for the keeper, I clearly wasn't judging him on Monday night's performance alone, I've been impressed since the start of the season. Oh and when you say he "made no saves you wouldn't expect any keeper to make", I couldn't help thinking about our two and how I wouldn't necessarily expect them to be making those saves or any others!
My main point is that fat Ange has come in and is getting 110% out of that team. It might not last...I hope it doesn't of course...but he is a man's man and I like the cut of the bloke's gib. Conversely, I don't like Arteta's style.

I agree John, they've definitely had the rub of the green, but they have a spirit I haven't seen before and it's down to the new manager.
I also agree that it will be City and Liverpool as 1st and 2nd, but I'm far from convinced that we'll be above the scum. We've regressed big time since last season and allowing Liverpool to overtake us, which they will, ought to be putting huge pressure on Legohead...especially give the money he's spent.
