And another issue is, if you go against or have questions about whatever topic you don't agree with or might have questions on e.g gender ,covid ,climate change etc ,you're automatically labeled far right,it's the new buzz word here in Ireland, yesterday we had a politician (and I use the term losely)who equated the rise of the far right with climate change

It's always difficult and dangerous to judge a country when you're an outsider who's only occasionally looking in, but it has seemed for a while that the Irish govt is going down the big state, woke authoritarian route. Rushing through repressive laws following last week's awful event and the subsequent riots and this plan to shut down streaming are red flags. You're not quite Canada yet, but that tosser Varadker will get you there given his way.
As I said, not really fair to judge a country when you're not living in it, but it's the impression I get. There's enough of the green, white and gold on here to tell me if I've got it wrong.

DB she is PBP(people before profit ;for or UK friends)a party who represents the absolute dregs of society in Ireland ,the free loaders, the people who want everything for free paid for by the taxpayer, who now and again venture out to protest against something obscure in some obscure part of the world.
One of their party colleagues an odious piece of shit called Paul Murphy recently called for FB and Twitter/X to be nationalised, that's how mad these clowns are, 2 of their leaders are actually rich boys who never had a proper job in their lives before the dregs voted them in.

I'm not political at all but I will stand up for the government at their backlash to those riots - those scumbags that rioted are (for the most part) free loaders who never worked a day in their lives and contribute fcuk all to society and yet have the cheek to complain about foreigners coming into our country on social welfare ?? The jokes doing the rounds over here the day after the riots was that "the riot is paused for 3 hours to allow people to collect their dole" and also "jd sports store was looted and all the runners were robbed but the work boots were left behind"

The irony is that sometime in the last 20 years or so our government started a policy of moving some of those free loading sponger families down from Dublin and into rural counties, and the decent culchies were having a meltdown over it

Another irony is that these rioters would lead you to believe that Dublin was a fine place before all these foreigners landed - it wasnt. There are parts of Dublin (and all cities) that are run by drug gangs and scumbags and always have been - if the locals want to clean up the streets then why dont they start with their own local scumbags ? There are genuine honest and hardworking people who have every right to be concerned at some of the people allowed into our country, but they have no hope of having a reasonable discussion or plan put in place now that the racist right wing crowd have taken over. There is now talk about how these refugees are getting all these state handouts and not contributing to society at all, but there are thousands of Irish who havent worked a day in their lives and are a drain on our country. The problem isnt the amount of foreigners coming in - the problem is that we have a handout society now that entices people in, and no politician will have the balls to oppose it cos it will kill their career and they will never get elected again

It's no better over here DB. If you look at the West in general, there's not a leader amongst them. All pseudo academic, career poiticians who inspire and lead no one. All completely out of touch with the "people" and cossetted in their middle class, metropolitan bubbles.
Worse still, policy seems to be shaped around whatever is trending on social media and whatever the current heart on the sleeve zeitgeist might be. This accounts for the constant u-turns and contradictory policy decisions that are made in the UK. What the wankers fail to realise, is that those loud social media voices belong to strident minorities and activists and not the vast majority of the public who are too busy working to spend time on social media....(or posting on football forums

When I think back to the politicians of my adolescence and young adulthood, there were, obviously, bundles of them that i disagreed with and even disliked, but they had gravitas and presence. I detested Margaret Thatcher and lay the blame on her for starting the demise of our country on all fronts (Blair finished off the demolition job), but fuck me, you can't argue that she wasn't a leader. She set a policy and saw it through despite how people might scream. We now have a choice of Sunak, or Starmer
