Alexander Hleb's defining moment as an Arsenal player?

I think Hleb was our best attacking player but was never truly valued by the fans, one of the best shows of this was when his 5th place in Fink Tank player of the season sparked debate over if Fink Tan worked. If Cesc costs us a goal, misses an open goal and then shins the ball in, Cesc gets praised. If Hleb dribbles past the Liverpool midfield then sent Cec through for that shinned goal, nothing. If Hleb gets an assist and wins a penalty to turn the game around, few praise him. If Hleb creates chance after chance against Man U, doesn't get the praise.

We are going to miss him badly as I see nobody in the squad with his ability to destroy a defence with one pass
Fabregas......

I don't think Hleb and destroying the defence can really be used in the same sentence. Maybe running it round a couple of shit players before being ran into the sideline would be more appropriate

Was it Cesc that destroyed the Man U defence time and time again last season. Was it Cesc that took out the entire Liverpool defence for a certain midfielder to shin home, was it Cesc that played a 60 yard wonder pass through to Ade at Old Trafford.

Oh wait, it was Hleb. Must be where I got the defence destroying ability from. Cesc doesn't do that anywhere near as well

was it cesc who scored some great goals, was it cesc who carried the team for most of the season,, yes it was,, come on magic your not in the majority on this one  we all know how good hleb could be, just he didnt do enough over the season, you picked out two games, i could pick out 36 where he did fuck all , beat a player yes, then stop, couldnt score and didnt create enough for us, so good rid of in my eyes

3 games, 4 if you count this post, I hope you don't expect me to go through every game though this season

That's the thing, when Cesc "carried" the team against Bolton by having a shot deflected in by two players, people ignored Hleb's involvement in two goals. Whatever Hleb did was never enough for fans whereas Cesc could do some awful things, shin the ball in for a goal after having it set on a plate for him and be made a hero. Cesc is a fantastic player, he can shoot whereas Hleb can't, he can drive a game whereas Hleb can't but he can't play a killer ball in the way Hleb can

Yes Hleb did have bad games, sometimes his passes just didn't come off and he can be frustrating, he also left badly. Doesn't mean he wasn't a fantastic player for some fans

He sucked ass for the first 2 seasons , had a few good games in his final season ( Fulham and Ac Milan away come to mind ) . Fuck off you ungratefull crunt , we are happy your worthless non -shooting ass is gone and atleast we got our $$$$$ back .

compared to Pires or even Overmars he was a total failure . I would wager my precious knob that Nasri does better than this wasteful prick.

Magic Hat, Explain Cesc's 20 odd assists or whatever it was this year in all competitions compared to Hleb number of assists, where on the stats earlier used he only got to double figures over a three year period.

Now you cannot tell me that all of Fabregas's assists were off the shin or caught a deflection on the way through. Or the opponents were shit.

Was going to write the PSV game but Augie beat me to it. I remember screaming at the tv: " Don't touch him, don't fucking touch him" and low and behold, Hleb pushed the PSV player down needlessly and gave away the free-kick which resulted in a goal and our going out of the competition. :banghead: :banghead:

To balance things up a little, I would add the goal he scored in the 7-0 Champions League victory last season against Slavia Prague. He showed the player he could be - but very rarely was - that evening. To be fair, he did have some good performances for us - especially in Europe - but alas all too few for a player of his tremendous ability.

The fact it has been revealed that just a month into his Arsenal career he was telling Wenger that the manager had made a mistake in buying him and that he didn't consider himself good enough for this league, tells me that he never had the right spirit to be an Arsenal player to begin with.

Didn't Hleb put one on a plate for Cesc just after we scored against PSV, only for Cesc to sky it horribly over the bar?

I think Magic Hat is just trying to say that people are quick to jump on Hleb's back and that his contribution to the team effort was more than is being recognised.

And I agree.
