VAR

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

They could also improve it by making the laws more simple . Take offside for instance forget about a stray arm a big nose or a toe nail lets have gap at the feet only . Get rid of the leaning player . if his feet are in front it’s offside .
We have goal line sensors why not touchline sensors too , No more Willock confessions and subs to warm up behind the goal. Against Bayern when they hit the post the lino was 3 yards behind play trying to get past their subs on the touchline. From where I was, in line, the player that took the shot was off but as it didn’t go in there was no check.
Also scrap the ruling out goals for a foul in the build up . That’s what the ref is for . If he doesn’t whistle then play on. Put the responsibility on the ref and not let him rely on someone having a cup of tea in a shed 20 miles away. Make him more aware of his responsibilities and let football get back to being spontaneous.
Lastly as we have 1 ref ,2 linesmen , 1 4th official and two on VAR how about 1 of them counting the little fouls that stop teams attacking usually on the halfway mark . City in particular are good at this should 1 player commit 3 of these niggles the counter should advise a yellow card and the game would flow better .
Add your own thoughts as to how we make VAR viable .

Some good ideas there A11.

🚨Arsenal are set to vote AGAINST scrapping VAR on the 6th June.

Chelsea and Liverpool are also expected to do the same, as per @JacobsBen.

I hope they've said to the Premier League, we'll back VAR as long as you deal with Cheaty properly.

Like having someone other than English officials operate it.

Stevie Wonder, for example.

Honest to god it is beyond a fcuking joke - the clubs spend all season long bitching and moaning about it, and then they have a chance to get shot of it and they vote to keep it   I know Steve O believes that they are deliberately fcuking it up cos they never wanted var in first place, and hell maybe he is right I dont know, but what I do know is that this system is fcuking up the game royally and keeping it is endorsing that imo and none of those clubs that voted to keep it should be given a platform to bitch about it in the meeja next season

This 1,000% Now having voted to keep the damn thing, they lose all and any rights to complain and use such terms as "Disgraceful" or any other post game language.

VAR has taken all the Joy and Spontaneity Out Of The Game.... And yet they actually vote to keep it......It is Utterly Bewildering It Truly Is.

I've said on here before augie that youcan't put the genie back in the bottle. Imagine the new season starting without it....the very first time that the ref/linesman made a decision that the TV cameras proved was categorically wrong, then the cry would go up that VAR would have intervened if we had it. There would be a case every single week.

I'm not necessarily defending VAR, especially in the way we've had it, but doing away with it now would cause bedlam.

There are plenty of ways the system could be kept but improved upon, which are largely discussed in this thread.

Like making the c.unts financially responsible ? There is simply no excuse for bullshit excuses like forgetting to draw the line etc, and the sooner they hold these fuckwits responsible, the sooner we might see improvements. We keep hearing about how the premier league is a multi billion pound industry and how football is a business now and not a sport, so then how is it acceptable to have all this technology and still fcuk it up when there is so much at stake ?? Jobs should be lost for incompetence and if that doesnt fix the problem then replays awarded and fines or lack of payment to the c.unts running var :censored: :censored:

For me the ONLY FUCKING WAY it can work is if it is limited in it's use.

Give each manager two VAR calls per half, maybe even one per half? Once they use their option to request a VAR replay that's it gone. They can use their VAR request for anything they want but once they use it that's it, no more.

I cannot see myself watching another full season of this shit where the only truly enjoyable part of the game - goal celebrations - have been fucked dead by some statto virgin watching endless replays in a fucking caravan 20 miles away. :censored:
