The Club will pump cash out like a water cannon this Summer. Big transfer activity incoming. Kroenke means business. 8)
I’ll believe it when I see either of the following at the club:

Lautaro Martínez/Dušan Vlahović
Frenkie de Jong/Martín Zubimendi

Vlahovic would be an emphatic no from me

To buy a de jong type of midfielder would mean playing rice as the CDM, and tbh I dont think he is anywhere near as effective as a defensive midfielder

I dont believe we will spend big again this summer, but spending big is only half the issue - we also need to flush big as well. There are players not of the required standard that should be moved on but I suspect wont be, and I honestly cannot see us buying a real quality goal scoring striker

Zubimendi I hear. I think the striker may be a bit off the radar. If we go for a Toney or Isak it would fundamentally change our style of play. Not convinced Arteta wants to do that.

He has shelled out big money on jesus and havertz and wont want to be seen as wrong on that - he changed our system this season with the inverted full backs dogshite and a slower build up, so changing our style of play he is open to, but admitting he was wrong not so much

Tomiyasu plays as an inverted full back. Difference is he can also defend and has a danger radar. The Ukrainian cost us the league. He will be out this Summer.

You were saying he has changed our style of play. I don’t think he has.

One of the things I'd say is that we were incredibly fortunate with injuries this season - Timber apart. Jesus, Partey, Smith Rowe were all players that would have been "in and out" rather than the Saliba, Gabriel, Rice, Saka, Odegaard types who were available for almost the entire season.

If we think Toney, Isak and others don't fit the style then he needs another 'false 9' type like Havertz. He was magnificent yesterday - I don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks - wins every header, great movement and links up our whole game. If he's ever out, nobody else can do it and the week where we lost the league over Xmas showed that with Nketiah and Jesus fluffing their lines badly

🚨 Mikel Arteta wants to get all business done early so the squad is immediately ready to work on a campaign where they are aiming to hit over 90 points. The plans have already been seen in the market as reminiscent of Liverpool around 2018. [@MiguelDelaney] #afc

🚨 Arsenal are seeking to sign a prime striker before their pre-season tour, with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak & Ajax’s Brian Brobbey top of the list. Another option on the list is Isak’s Swedish compatriot, Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting. [@MiguelDelaney] #afc

I think magnificent is a slight exageration there Steve O - yes he won a lot of headers but he put most of them off target (barring the one he hit the woodwork), and for many of us the problem hasnt been having a striker to get into the right positions, but rather to get one that puts away the majority of chances that comes his way. There is no doubt that havertz is much improved on what he was 6 months ago, and equally there is no denying that he is our best option at number 9 right now - that being said, I dont think upgrading the position will be a hard task because there are better options out there, although I dont have much confidence that we will buy a top quality striker either. It was refreshing yesterday to see a right footed winger on the right wing and him actually crossing in the ball for the striker to attack - I have constantly bemoaned how predictable we are (especially saka) by always having to cut inside, and saka in particular could benefit from switching sides occasionally and knocking in a few crosses from the left. I will say that Ivan Toney isnt top quality imo, but would still be an upgrade on havertz and every other striker we have

🚨 Brian Brobbey is the latest striker linked with Arsenal. Ajax are looking for a fee in the region of €60M-€80M. He had 36 G/A this season for Ajax 🇳🇱 (@MikeVerweij)

When did it become the norm to combine the goals and assist stats of a player per season? “He has 36 G/A this season” sounds as if he had 36 goals and 36 assists. Stats (which are bollocks anyway) like that are very misleading. Jesus has 9 G/A this season - 4 goals and 5 assists. Doesn’t sound great when it isn’t lumped together (and it isn’t great then either).

In the Dutch league this season ,he played 30 games and has 18 goals and 8 assists.

He's just under 6ft ,bit small for a striker
