City’s odds to be relegated next season have been slashed to 33/1 from 2000/1.
Arsenal and Liverpool are still 2000/1.
Check it if you don’t believe me.

If only I were paid as well!BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 2:12 pmIs this City’s legal Team there?Arsenal Till I Die wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 1:49 pmEnglish (and Welsh) legal system. There is no such thing as a ‘British legal system’. Scotland and Northern Ireland have separate legal autonomy to England and Wales. ‘British law’ is a (common) misguided term, and the only time the United Kingdom is mentioned as a legal collective is on the international/supranational law stage.BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 12:16 pmThe Premier League is a private entity. They have come up with a set of rules to administer the League. City have challenged those rules as unlawful through the British Legal system. An odd defence but that’s what they have done. The Premier League has spent years fighting City’s lawyers in order to prove that they are allowed to set the rules that they have in place. This is not a Court process ordinarily but City have sought to challenge the legality of the Premier League’s rules. They have failed. I can see why it looks confusing but that is exactly what City are trying to do. Now that the legal challenges are over (hopefully) then the Premier League can get on with looking at the specific charges.augie wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 11:34 amBobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 9:25 am
Our legal system allows this. A bit like cases regarding asylum seekers, there are a myriad of ways to frustrate a simple process. The Premier League aren’t to blame here. But the actual hearing is close.
This is where it confuses me - on one hand you are saying that this is a football case and nothing to do with law of the land, and then a while later you are saying that they can hold it up cos of the uk legal system, so you can see the contradiction there right ?
A minor, pedantic, point but I teach law at university level so….pedantic I must be.
Bobby, which court did City last challenge the rules in? If you can find any information on party names I may be able to find the rulings on Westlaw or LexisNexis (legal research tools).![]()
Let me find you a link.

Thank you for the links, mate. I’ll dig deeper once I get home, should there be anything else to find.

The reaction is evident. No emotion, no feelings, no nothing. Things would be different if a bigger club won it. The football world doesn't rate rigged success and you can see it.

Looking increasingly like Bob's right, because things are suddenly starting be said, when until now it's been a virtual eerie silence. Can't get over the PP ad.
So, at least it's being discussed, but the real doubt that most of us on here have is that the degree of punishment will be any more than an inconsequential fine and a minor verbal rebuke. Hope we're wrong and that Bob is right.

The people who bet on these platforms are punters not legal experts. They should be relegated, they won't be. There will be a half way house which means they keep their trophies but end up with a deduction that won't harm their PL status.

Are you referring to my remark about Paddy Power?
If so, I assume you haven’t seen the asterisk ad that somebody posted on here earlier today. I was referring to that, not betting odds.
As for any punishment for City, you’re reiterating my point, that most of us fear it will be inconsequential. I just hope Bob is right.

I do agree with inconsequential punishments, might keep them out of the top 4 for a season, that's it. As I have said before a relegation would cost this country billions in trade/jobs.

Jesus there all coming out of the woodwork now
Rio Ferdinand on Manchester City's 115 FFP charges:
"There is a cloud over football & Man City with it. 2 years since the charges first came out & Man City have been allowed to win 2 Premier League titles.
So the powers that be need to knuckle down and get this done for the betterment of the game."

As per usual not a lot of substance to your claims. You are telling me a country that claims not to own City (they claim it is a private enterprise) would cut off all trade with the UK if City were punished? Surely that would simply prove the point of all this? It would prove that the state owns City or at least heavily influences it. Wouldn’t be a very clever move and would make the UAE leadership look very very silly. “Oh we don’t have anything to do with City. All their sponsorship is legit. Oh you’ve punished us. We are now withdrawing 100% of our limited trade with the UK to cut our nose off to spite our face. Oh and in the process we have proved your point that City are controlled as a Sportswashing exercise by Abu Dhabi.”nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 6:14 amDon't be so paranoid, It was a response to general comments on this thread. PS - the below link details the trade inflow and outflow. Not entirely clear how it would cost billions in trade and jobs to be honest. We do a bit of this and a bit of that with the UAE. As I say, they would need to cut us off and not sure why they would do that. Both economically and politically and would be an odd move.

I was in the local antique shop yesterday listening to Artemis spread his usual gossip when he gave me this snippet of info in a very strange manner, looking over his shoulder first, leaning in way too close for comfort and actually cupping my ear, he whispered "if city get relegated WWIII Will be inevitable"
I might have misheard him though because it also sounded like "Bob and Nuts are full of shit"

Only joking boys.
My local antique dealers name is Bartholomew.

Bobby do some research on the matter rather than take soundbites as gospel. City is owned by a Sovereign Wealth fund, originally referenced to as ADUG (Abi Dhabi United Group). ADUG by definition is owned by the UAE government of which Sheikh Mansour is part of. Etihad Airlines funnily enough is owned under another investment structure, also owned by the UAE government.BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 6:36 amAs per usual not a lot of substance to your claims. No room for financial shenanigans there then?
My comments about the punishment, may be right they may be wrong. But if you follow whats happened so far it seems to fit the bill.
And as for international trade, it was worth £25bn between the UK and UAE before Covid, you can be sure it's more now. So its not inconsequential. Mansour has redeveloped large parts of Manchester near their ground, if you went up there back in the day it was an utter shithole.
