Riccardo Calafiori expected to fly into London today for Arsenal medical. All being well, he will then join up with squad on tour of the USA. Emile Smith Rowe still in the States waiting on full agreement with Fulham before being allowed to fly to London for medical. #AFC #FFC

Jeez, they're dragging this one out. just sign the fucker and move forward. :tumbleweed: :tumbleweed:
According to what I've read today, he's either in Rome or in London having a medical or on a plane to California or perhaps still in Bologna. Which all means that he'll be announced as an AC Milan player by Sunday.

🚨 Arsenal have turned down several approaches from clubs in Germany, Spain & Italy for Fabio Vieira, while sides from the Saudi Pro League have also been in contact. Mikel Arteta has major hopes that Vieira can play a significant role this season. [@GraemeBailey] #afc

Well Mikel has done it again.
Rather than rid us of the ineffective Nketia and the way past it Jesus he appears to have chosen to ditch the bright light that is Emile Smith-Rowe.
In Arteta we have the club version of Southgate. He just can't see true talent.
He has form. He only played Martinelli when he had no other options even though we could all see he was class.
Another Martinez style error and one we will regret as Emile turns into the new Cole Palmer.

I have no faith in our manager. He is clueless.
Watch Emile fly. Fulham have got a star in the making.
Well done Emile it's our loss not yours mark my words.

I will watch the Cottagers with interest this season.
Another opportunity missed by Mikel.
Thanks

Yep, a tough pill to swallow, but no surprise at all. I got some stick from one two quarters on here for saying it, but it's been obvious to me since before the end of the 21/22 season that Arteta didn't fancy him and that he'd never be a regular first choice pick no matter how well he was performing. In the first half of that season he looked a better bet than Odegaard for the number 10 position

He could be in the middle of a cracking run of form and Arteta would drop him. If he had an average game, he'd definitely be benched, but of course, Arteta doesn't apply that policy to all players. The favourites can consistently stink the place out but always get a game.

I hope the boy hasn't stayed too long and that his career has been permanently damaged. I'd like to see him reached the heights that many of us on here think he was capable of.

You're also right about Martinelli. At one point he was another that struggled to get a game and having looked a fabulous prospect under Emery only managed to become a regular under Arteta when the option was forced on him. I hate to say it, but he's regressed under Arteta and is another that would probably benefit from moving elsewhere.

Is anyone confident that we'll sign the quality striker that we desperately need? I can't shake the feeling that Arteta will be happy to start the season with Havertz and Jesus as our "miss more than they'll score" striking options.

I'm afraid that Havertz has become the new Xhaka....not good enough for the level we claim to want to compete at, but a cult figure for the boss and half of the fanbase. He's gonna be around as long as Arteta is our manager and that's gonna be a long while yet. :(

It's obvious that Arteta fancies Trossard more than Martinelli and although he is a good member of the squad Martinelli has the ability to go much higher. As for ESR like everyone else I feel that we have wasted a great talent and that Fulham have had our pants down.

I'll be unhappy to see Smith Rowe go, but if no-one bigger than Fulham have come in for him maybe Arteta's not the only one who doesn't rate him as highly as we do?

I wouldn't go by that though. We were never in a bidding war with any big clubs to sign Pires, Henry, Vieira, Bergkamp, Overmars, Petit.....

Personally I think selling ESR is a huge mistake. Especially when we look at the utter shit Arteta is retaining... Fake Vieira, CliveChenko, The Feather...

Have to concur with all the above comments.

It just 'feels' so Wrong. Unless there is something we don't know about, but when I think back to when ESR & Saka were both emerging as regular starters in the first team; they even had a song about just those two, which okay doesn't necessarily mean a jot, I remember how people were (rightly) raving about Saka, but for me ESR seemed the better talent. Then he got an injury and suddenly even when he was fit he was way down the pecking order.

I genuinely wish him all the best and hope that when we do play Fulham he has the game/s of his life, scores and runs over to the Arsenal bench to give it some to Arteta.

ps: The whole thing just reminded me of something that occurred when I was playing in a local Under 14's Football Team.

There was a kid same age as all of us (13-14yrs old) ( Keith Jennings - aka: Jenko) who was a natural raw talent and definitely the Best player out of all of us, but after an initial excellent start to the season; he was top scorer for the team etc, he suddenly got dropped and ended. up leaving to play for a rival team across town.

It was only about 6 years later I discovered that this Kid's dad had Porked our coaches missus - fair do's she was well fit; think Will's Mum from the In-betweeners. (*), but something has occurred between ESR and Arteta that we aren't privy to. :?

(*) For those not familiar with the In-betweeners:

Exactly this

Villa were rumoured to have wanted him last season, they finished top 4 and now have no interest

I fully expect one or two to state with all their football knowledge that Fulham are finishing above us now

It’s Fulham, not when our best players departed to City like Nasri or Utd like Van Persie, or Barca like Fabregas (and Song)   :barscarf:

I hope he plays regularly, he’s a good player, when fit, and deserves a career.
If he had scored the goal Vieira scored there would have been a tidal wave of - “see, he must play” from all the told you so’s.
