Reply from Arsenal about stand names.

Post by Ben-gooner14 »

Dear Mr Hunt

Thank you for your communication regarding Emirates Stadium.

The board made the decision to place the clock on the back of the South East screen and there are no plans at present to move this.

The quadrants were originally coloured for maintenance purposes and not for public information at all. The Local Authority and TfL soon realised this would help people find the relevant part of the Stadium from the transport infrastructure and so these colours were adopted.

I can quite appreciate that historically the naming after famous Arsenal figures were be nice but in practical terms it often leads to confuse and signage is difficult and less distinct than colours. When moving large numbers of people around simple signage is necessary hence the large graphics outside the Stadium.

May I thank you for taking the trouble to contact the Club on these matters and hope you enjoy the forthcoming season.

Yours Sincerely

John Beattie

Stadium Manager

I suppose though if you don't ask you don't get. I don't regret doing it though.

doesn't matter what the sign posts say, it matters what we call them, i always refer to my seats as north bank, not orange quadrant.

I suppose people in the end stands can still sing songs from the north bank.

Exactly it tells you on your ticket what turnstile to go thru and then you follow block numbers and stuff from there, I only knew I was in the orange quadrant cos there's a lovely wee picture on the back of my season ticket!

I use a mate's season ticket nowadays (the tout b*stards have had their last penny out of me! And that INCLUDES Fat Les in Picadilly Circus tube stop!! ) and he gave me directions on my first trip over last season. I've never looked at the card too closely...

Well don't forget if the stand names was changed a signifacant ammount of money would have to be spent on with the season tickets, books, info etc haveing to change
This is a strong reason why i think Arsenal won't change the names yet & TBH i don't blame them but i'm more than up for the names to be changed though
