ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

There have been reports that Everton have enquired about Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.

Any move for Eddie Nketiah by Everton relies on Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaving the club first.

I’ll start by saying that I’m getting my tin hat on and that the following comment is based on the belief that I don’t think we’ll be adding a striker at all, let alone the quality I’d like to see.

So, if there is any truth in this rumour, then I’d offer Everton Nketiah and 10 million for Calvert-Lewin. In the absence of anyone else, I’d rather see him in the squad than Eddie.

Tim hat firmly on.

I’ve spoken to two Gooners who would “take Sterling as a back up to Saka,” in a boozer this afternoon. Fanbase in the mud.

i just dont get it, Everton are a club in the same league as us, we absolutely burnt them with Iwobi, and now when one shit striker wants out to come back to Arsenal to be utterly embarrassed again.......what these clubs do be thinking in beyond me!
Tbf xgt, Chelsea supporters must have the same conversation about us. It’s embarrassing how many times they’ve mugged us.
Was literally just about to post that mate!

Two things for me stand out there. The word "boozer" so they were probably shitfaced drunk. The other thing is they were possibly of that element of our fan base that know fucking nothing about football.

Harsh, but….oh fuck it.

Tbh Mc, Calvert-Lewin wouldn’t appear on my list of preferred strikers, but in the absence of anyone else arriving, I’d take him ahead of Eddie and Havertz all day long. I suppose that’s more a comment on how poor I think those two are.

Jesus isn’t a poor footballer, but he’s no goalscorer, so I don’t see his place in the side.

Jesus should have been sold this summer no doubt about it - he is still very marketable and his reputation would have brought in a nice few quid (probably from saudi) that could have been used to massively upgrade the number 9 position imo. Jesus isnt a bad footballer by any means, but he isnt a prolific goalscorer and imo we need one of them, but he is the cone boy's guy so he aint going anywhere

Exactly. Whereas Eddie is Championship level and Havertz is simply pony. I know he scored on Saturday, but everything else he did was dreadful. He’s clueless with the ball at his feet, loses control of it and runs straight into people.

As much as I can’t stand the “false 9” concept, where it’s been tried, the player is usually technically adept and more of an additional number 10. Conversely, it’s possible to have an effective old school CF who might not be the most technically gifted, but knows where to be and can put the ball in the net…Shearer was a prime example. Havertz has neither the technical ability or the goalscoring instinct. He’s unfit for both a false 9 and a CF position.

How the bloke has managed to bluff his way at the top level, fuck knows.

I suppose there's still time for Eddie to go, but I'm afraid that Zinchenko, Partey and Jesus, who I was certain would all be gone this summer, will be key parts of our squad for the new season. :suicide:

That's code for "With them in our squad we Are Fucked" isn't it.

As for Calvert Lewin - He's a sick note of the same levels as Diabi (Sorry SteveO but he is!)

If IF everton DO come in for the feather we MUST sell him at any price... One of the Youngsters going through would be more effective than the lazy feather.

As for zinchenko & partey they proved again on Saturday beyond All Fucking Doubt that they are Absolute Smelly Dog SHIT, so fuck them both off for free, that way they can do less damage to our chances of silverware.
