I must admit I haven’t paid much attention this summer but can someone explain to me how nearly half the people on here seriously think we might win the title this year

I am vaguely aware that I think we have bought a defender and sold ESR. We were not good enough to win anything last season, where we also had remarkable luck with injuries - so how on earth will the addition of a defender be good enough this season ???

Ohhh! fer fecks sake Rob keep Up... :D  \

Baffles the shit out of me too buddy - even in a summer or little transfer movement anywhere in the league, I would say that we have done nothing to bridge the gap and are really fortunate that our so called rivals are in a mess or are starting afresh with new manager/regimes - even though crooked teeth had run his race at the victims, I would not be confident of finishing above them if he was still there, but the new guy in unproven in this league and they cant seem to sign a player plus some of their players seem unsettled, so that has them in bother imo

1st rule in football.

If you don’t strengthen or do very little then the chances are that you will go backwards.
Yet again a wasted chance to close the gap.

The reality is this and has been for many years.
Under the Kroenke ownership there is no real intent or desire to try and win the league as much as they try and convince everybody otherwise.

While I've been one of the Kroenke's harshest critics on here I can no longer blame them for our lack of a league title. They have given Artedu over 700 million to spend. That's what is required of them as owners. The job of winning the title is then Artedu's job and if they can't, then they are to blame in my book.

This, absolutely. I was actively supporting “Kroenke Out” during 2018-20….you’ll no doubt all remember the anti Kroenke campaign organised by the AST, bloggers and other influencers…., but while he still wouldn’t be my choice as owner, we can’t knock how he’s backed Arteta over this 4 1/2 years.

As DB says, he’s been very free with the cheque book, been supportive and patient and as far as we can tell, hasn’t interfered with the football side at all.

So far this summer we have absolutely failed to close the gap, which is fucking frustrating because there wasn’t a lot that needed doing, but not signing a top level striker and centre mid is on Arteta and he’ll have nowhere to hide if we underperform this coming season. It will be more a case of Arteta out, not Kroenke out.

Choices made IF we get a Proper Striker AND Defensive / Holding Midfielder... Otherwise fuck knows
..........................................................................

Poll: Where Do You Think Arsenal will Finish at the End of 2025 -2025 Season

What Position Will Arsenal Finish? (Would You Like To Name The Other Teams Finishing Positions)
Title Winners: THE Arsenal :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
Top Two: Cheaty
Top Three: scouseFilth
Top Four: the Villains
Top Five: Fat Bellied Sister Shaggers

...........................................................................

Buying / Selling Arsenal players?

Name Your (Realistic) Preferred THREE Choices or Positions that should be Bought:

1. Striker (Ollie Watkins)
2. Holding Midfielder ( Conor Gallagher)
3. Right Winger (Nico Williams)

Name Your Preferred THREE Choices of Players Arsenal Should Sell:

1. The Slug
2. The Cocktail Stick
3. Partey

Any players you think we should Keep and Not Sell? ESR ... Too Late I know... But FFS! :banghead:

...........................................................................

Do you think Arsenal Will Arsenal Win Any Trophies? Prem Title & FA Cup

How Far Will Arsenal Get in The Champions League? Quarter Finals

Who Will Be Arsenal's Top Scorer of The Season: The New Striker      Trossard

18th: Ipswich
19th: Forest
20th: leicester

Who Will Be The FIRST Manager To Be Sacked? The Chav one (name???)

...................................................................................................................................................

Also if by some miracle we do win the title... it will be a combination of cheaty being sanctioned for going off the rails when Pep storms off with his arris in his hands and the other top teams being woeful... Mind you with VARgina still being a Major Factor it will most likely go to cheaty (again) depending on how many Brown Envelopes get handed over...

.................................................

Edit #No 1: After yesterdays game against Wolves I am now convinced (not that I needed convincing) more than ever that if Arteta persists with zinchenko & partey they WILL cost us points... And "What Do Points Mean"???? :? :? :banghead:

yes to a certain extent this is true...the title is really won or lost pre season with how the teams are strengthened

cant see them beating City to the title...barring points deductions or relegation...despite the ingenious loudspeakers and pickpockets brainwaves

my prediction would be 3rd or 4th......behind City Liverpool and maybe united

with The Arsenal its the strikers position which is glaring in need ....Havertz playing number 9 is not going to win a title ...realisticaly we have just FA cup to go for...and a tricky away draw could finish that as it has done in previous seasons

I’ve been holding off on a prediction because I wanted to see who we signed, but I ought to say something before we play any more games.

So, if the only addition before the window closes is Merino, then we’ll have no chance of the title and won’t even get second. We could be anywhere between 3rd and 5th, but likely in a battle for 3rd with the scum. I’m expecting some stick for saying that. :D

Had we added a quality CF and CM then we could have seriously challenged, but that ain’t happening.

So, 3rd or 4th.

We’ll know a lot more after playing Villa and Brighton.
