Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
remember pre Saliba...he was a total nervous wreck.....playing alonside Saliba has given him some confidence at least ....but yes always waiting for him to drop a bollockDB10GOONER wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 10:25 amPersonally, I think if Calafiori is a decent enough centre half, he should replace Gabriel who is just so clanger prone and who can turn to complete shit without Saliba to hold his hand. Not saying Gabriel is total gash, but he has issues, and if we can upgrade on him, we should.

Dropped a bollock last week and only for Watkins bad miss we probably would have lost that game

The ball across to him wasn't wonderful but he ended up going for it with the wrong leg, got himself inside out and found himself facing his own keeper, with his back to the attacker and no way of knowing what was going on behind him. Which is about everything that a defender shouldn't do. The whole thing was a fucking shambles rounded off spectacularly by Watkins rolling it miles wide.mcdowell42 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 2:56 pmDropped a bollock last week and only for Watkins bad miss we probably would have lost that game

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I like Gabriel. Playing with Saliba has definitely improved him, but it takes two to make a defensive partnership and as I said the other day, it's currently the last part of the team that anyone should be worried about. The defence over the last couple of seasons speaks for itself.
Let's also not forget that while it's easy to talk about Gabriel's less stable time pre Saliba (personally, I liked him then), he was playing with a merry-go-round of various sub optimal partners, which makes life very difficult and no settled understanding is formed.
He does have the odd mad moment, as last weekend shows, but he's 100% committed, is pretty good on the ball, good in the air (in both boxes) and every striker will know he's been in a game.
None of this means that Calafiori isn't or won't be a better CH. I've seen almost nothing of him.

To be perfectly honest, if that had happened in Women's football, we'd have all commented on how the quality had improved significantly. In fact, that whole incident including the miss from Watkins would probably come second in their goal of the season competition behind a shot that hit the postRetro Gunner wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 4:38 pmthe playing mantis wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 3:53 pmWouldn't have looked out of place in the women's game.Perryashburtongroves wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 3:43 pmThe ball across to him wasn't wonderful but he ended up going for it with the wrong leg, got himself inside out and found himself facing his own keeper, with his back to the attacker and no way of knowing what was going on behind him. Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Eddie and Reiss will go for sure, the bowels are emptying fast! Ramsdale to the Saints on a loan to buy please, no options because when he costs them several goals this season his value will drop further!
Not surprised we are not selling Kiwior, we won't have much of a squad left!! Once Eddie goes, we need a striker as we've all said before anyway, but unless we pull a biggy out of the hat.....Osimhen, Gyokeres (no thanks) or Isak, just to piss the Geordies off! I suspect best we will get is Coman or Sané, I'd be happy if we got either of them but they aren't going to score much more than 10 goals in a season so all our eggs will be in the Havertz basket because Jesus ain't resurrecting anything!!

Btw IW8, I've been meaning to post this....congratulations on the new arrival. I hope mum and baby are both doing well.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Actually, looking at the stats, Coman is fucking injury prone and never scores, Sane has 40 goals and 42 assists in 170 games for Bayern so pretty good.
Sané please!
Sané please!

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Sane is shit and has a bad attitude - he couldnt stand out in a team dominating the premier league and is not gonna be fcuk all help to us

Aaron Ramsdale heading back down south !
Arsenal agree a permanent deal with Southampton.
£18 million + £7 million in potential add-ons.
Still finalising the move.
