Other Matches Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

🚨BREAKING: Martin Ødegaard has been forced off the pitch for Norway this evening due to injury.

The Arsenal captain appears to have rolled his ankle and is now a doubt for the North London Derby this weekend.

We really need to look at how we manage these situations, this wasn't a competitive game, no one cares about winning a meaningless tournament.

It was obvious he got hurt during the Brighton game, he should have withdrawn from the Norway squad, the club should have asked him to do that.

I don't begrudge players playing for their nation, in meaningful games, but these were friendlies.

I expect he'll miss Spuds, Atalanta and City (best case). Expectations for the league this season are back to the 4th place trophy.

I think it’s no longer just the international break - if we really want to compete in the league/ win a domestic cup then we will need to play weakened sides in the group stage of the Champions League.
We are going to qualify anyway with the top 24 going through.
I see that Chelsea have not put Cole Palmer in their European squad - good idea. This will be the only way from now on that clubs such as ourselves and Chelsea will be able to compete with teams like City.

So would you have dropped him for those games anyway? If so, who would you replace him with?…genuine question.

Maybe I am remembering it wrong but I'm pretty certain Odegaard always plays well against the Scum, leading the press etc. Like it or not he is our Creative Hub and the team's systems and tactics revolve around him. :?
