Atalanta arsewipes A Thur Sept 19th KO 8pm

This round is the only time there will be Thursday night fixtures in the CL ,and of course we were 1 of the teams that just happened to end up playing on a thurs night :banghead:
Away from home, sandwiched between 2 away games

City CL tonight at home,PL game at home last weekend and another home game for them against us on Sunday ,not a hope they're getting docked points from the 115 charges

Calafiori back in training today ,but no Odegaard.

Arsenal team photo shoot was done yesterday, Odegaard was in the photo obviously, but there was a football strategically placed in front of his ankle,so you couldn't make out if he actually had a football boot on ,the sleuths on twitter looked back at other team photos over the yrs and there was no footballs included in those pics

We need a stronger line up than this.
Atalanta are a solid team. They’ve lost a few key players after winning Europa but still a strong team.

Looks too strong to me.
What do you want - a result in a glorified exhibition match or to be competitive on Sunday ? Whatever the scoreline here the result will be forgotten by Christmas.

Anyway we all know Arteta will go strong here - he always does in Europe. Saka has to play every match going for starters!

There were 5 newbies on the bench for the Scum game....I don't see there being any more (newbies) on the bench tonight; which for me also raises the question of our Youth / Reserves programme as there doesn't seem to be many coming through the ranks at the moment.

So as Rob said expect too see a relatively strong line-up. Yes we've got injuries, but we also have some players who are either constantly injured (Jesus, partey, Tomi etc) or are not worth a light (Zinchenko) and of course we have Jorginho who although a good player cannot play for 90 minutes or 2 games in a row.

Play the reserves and Go Full Guns Ho against the CheatyCunts on Sunday.

I'm actually amazed the Cheaty game isn't a Saturday lunchtime kick off, special circumstances and all that

This place is full of contradictions at time - most fans (but especially those that defend the cone boy) continually state that we simply cannot compete with city over a 38 game league season, so if that is the case shouldnt the game versus Atalanta be the more important game ? :rubchin: I mean if the consensus is that second is the best we can get in premier league, should the citeeh game not be seen secondary in the way that the relegation fighting clubs view games against citeeh as unimportant cos their season will be defined by games against their rivals ?

Tbh I dont think we are good enough, or have proven ourselves enough in europe to be totally dismissive of this game like many of you are suggesting - of course I would rotate somewhat (starts for calafiori and neto and sterling for starters), but our ranking in europe is frankly pathetic and needs to be improved big time. If we were at home for this game I would support more rotation for this fixture, but it will be a tough game over there and I worry about the effect a defeat would have before we play the oil state on Sunday.

Hands up I havent a scooby doo what way this competition is being run this season - I had a passing interest in the fixtures the day of the draw, but I havent even looked at them since and have no idea who else we are playing in this stage  By all accounts we should qualify so that is encouraging, but I always feel that at this stage of the season it is important to get a run of wins going early to get confidence up and then the international breaks dont hit as hard, but if we have patchy/up and down results going into the interlull, it is very hard to get into groove afterwards

I'm with you on that Rob. Fuck Atalanta and fuck this dog and duck stage of the CL competition. Sunday is the important one..... so naturally Artedu will risk too many first teamers and we'll pick up at least one more long term injury ahead of Sunday.....

Augster, do you ever get up in the morning and have an argument with yourself, just for the sake of it?

:rubchin:

You do, don’t you.
