As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
After the recent atempt from our old friends in spain to nick one our star players it got me thinking that if Cesc never moved to Arsenal would we be watching him now grace the field of the Camp nou or is it that AW waved his magic wond again?
He obviously has a lot of natural talent but I would never say he would of got the first team oppurtunities he has had at Arsenal and that's made him develop. I think if he had stayed at Barca he would of probally been in the reservers and playing in the spanish u21 squad instead of the senior's.

this is the exact reason why he should stay with us for another 5 years AT LEAST.
Yes this touches on something that I've been, sayin to peeps for a long time, cos Arsene's reputation is mainly as a talent spotter people forget, just how good a coach he is and the superstars were not just found but created!
It's take Iniesta years to finally become more of a regular.
Look at Portillo at Real, was a goal machine in youths/reserves, touted the next Van Basten/Butragueno and never got a look in and now with some lesser team.
Cesc would never be at this level if he had not joined us.

michael portillo played for real madrid? how did he fit it in with his duties as an MP?
now for seriousness: if you think about it how many of our players would be so well known had they not come to us? would henry be where he is today were it not for mr Wenger? or viera for that matter.
