HA, a striker who scores lots of goals and has massive potential……who the hell needs one of those
We're leaching good young prospects at the moment. Can only assume that either they think they have little chance of progress; seen what's happened with other home grown talent like ESR,; or they're having their heads turned by whoever is "managing " them that they can get a better deal elsewhere.

Wiltshire has just left as well, and I'm sure I read an article that some of the under 18s are not impressed that he has gone.

I get the feeling something isn't quite right. Look at Nwaneri warming the bench whilst he gets overlooked for the fat, lard-arsed ladyboy :cussing:

Yeah, I said this the other day that something doesn’t feel right and that managers tend to have a shelf life, unless they’re wining things and are rarities like Ferguson and Klopp.

Brendan Rogers is a prime example. Arrives, things improve, has a good couple of seasons and then it goes off a cliff. I think these type arrive with all the positive, buzz word enthusiasm, which inspires everyone for a while, until the shine wears off and the players see that there’s not much behind the facade. Once players and staff start questioning and doubting the game is up. For a while the manager will surround himself with yes men, regardless of how poor they are, but it’s over. Took the club 10 yrs to spot that with Wenger.

Can’t help wondering if Arteta is approaching this point. This season will tell us.

We are nowhere near approaching that point with the cone boy - as a fanbase we traditionally live in the extremes so everything is either going wonderfully well or absolutely shit, and the problem with that is that as a fanbase we are only one big win from getting everyone behind the cone boy again  Just look how long it took for the majority to accept that the french fraud was a busted flush - everywhere away ground we went to we had the home fans singing "arsene wenger we want you to stay", and yet our numptys still couldnt accept that he needed replacing   The majority of our fans purely see the journey under el basque as major improvement - they dont see the decline of our rivals, they dont factor in the money spent, they dont recognise the money wasted, and they use citeeh's wealth and referee's fcuk ups as a means to deflecting away any focus on poor management. Sad to say, but I honestly think another 2 or 3 trophyless seasons under the cone boy still wont turn fans against him

You’re missing my point a little augie. I’m not saying that either the club’s senior management, or the supporters will turn (I made the point in that post that it took 10 years for people to see that it was over for Wenger and even then I’d venture that 50% of the fanbase still couldn’t make the leap), but only that it could be the tipping point for Arteta.

You and I amongst others on here, have always had doubts about him, but it’s undeniable in my opinion that we’ve progressed and had a certain stability for the last couple of seasons. However, given the time he’s had and the money spent, he certainly isn’t over achieving and I can’t help wondering if the wheels are starting to come off. There are one or two iffy signs this season and my gut feeling is that he may well have peaked and that the players realise that. It was the players I referred to, not the supporters.

There is no excuse for a season that ends up worse than the last one. Given the dysfunction at rival clubs and the loss of Klopp at Liverpool, then I think we’re entitled to expect second place and improvement in the cups and the CL. If that doesn’t materialise…and I don’t think it will…then it’s fair to ask if Arteta is past best. The coming three league games will tell us a lot about where the season is heading. I’m still expecting that we’ll be in a fight for top 4. It will be like Arsene never left.

If he’s close to a return that means he’s even closer to another injury FFS.

""Declan unfortunately picked an injury against Newcastle," said Arteta in his pre-match press conference. "He was able to finish and he wasn’t feeling good the last few days. We’ll have to assess him on Thursday and see if he’s ready for Chelsea."

Worst medical dept ever........and even worse is everyone knows it and we STILL have a paper thin squad. We should be signing 5 or 6 purely as the inevitable injury cover....never mind as competition for places

I took my girlfriend out for a meal the other night and we started playing footsie under the table.

I had a steak and she got toed in the hole.

I wonder if this is how he broke it :rubchin:

Recovery time for a broken toe is 3-4 weeks and it could be painful for a while longer  I broke the toe next to my big toe on my right foot about 25 years ago, still gives me grief even now ffs.
