Re: Manager
This may be the alcohol talking (and fuck knows I’ve had copious amounts of it) but didn’t we already try Emery as manager and things were absolutely fucking shite?

Re: Manager
Yes mate, but I always felt that we didn't give him enough time.
Not suggesting that we go back, but just wondered who would have the best for us long term

I’m not sure esr has the lungs to conduct the orchestra, you don’t want someone huffing and puffing halfway through the 2nd act.rodders999 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 9:42 pmDon Unai as manager, Emi in goal, Tierney with the arm band and Smith Rowe conducting the orchestra.

Ooohhhhh you meant orchestra as in on the pitch, well he ain’t got the lungs for either I’d imagine
Re: Manager
I tried to get over this years ago!
If anyone thinks < 18 months was enough time I just urge them to go back and look at the squad and wages inherited under Wenger and ask them how long they think any top manager would need to resolve that.....especially when your first transfer budget was a whopping £40m
For the record - Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Mkhitaryan, Ramsey, Lacazette, Wilshere, Ozil, Giroud, Ospina, Auba, Walcott, Holding, Iwobi, Nacho, Mustafi, Chambers, Welbeck, Bellerin, Mavropanos, Xhaka, Maitland-Niles, Kolasinac, Akpom, Cech, Coquelin, Elneny
There you go Mikel - inherit that lot, spend £40m and achieve world domination playing wonderful football
No point arguing what might have been - anyone with half a brain knows <18 months to sort that bag of shite out wouldn't have been enough for Pep, Klopp or anyone.....even with £200m. It would have taken anyone 2 years to even be half competitive and in that time its nothing short of a miracle that he got us within 1 point of the CL and to a major European final
Any of those players you'd take back today.....even in their prime?

Fuck me, when you look at that squad it's terrifying. Puts into perspective the absolute mess that the Old Fraud left behind. A list of those that were has-beens, never were's, completely not bothered and some that were utter dross.

Re: Manager
Uh! Ohhhh! Here we go!
Emery is a very good manager; that is obvious the improvements seen in the villains since he took over is nothing short of excellent. Also anyone taking over after TOF was shown the door was going to have to be Supreme. I liken it to what happened to Manure after RedNose left and is still happening
So when Emery arrived we all know it wasn't just what needed to be done Player-wise, but the Absolute Fuckin' Mess he inherited in terms of Club Culture, Backroom stuff... Financial Systems and Operations... I remember only to well being called all kinds of names and even being spat at by this old cun.t wearing an Arsenal scarf on one of the "Wenger out" protests. The Fan Base was so divided it was Sad to see, and ALL of that was down to TOF; regardless of the Successes he brought to the club and the Brilliant times we all had in that time, I can never forgive him for not doing what was right and leaving before his Crash Dive into Despotic Delusion.
For me Emery did all the Donkey Work before Arteta arrived, the fans singing (somewhat too soon for my liking) "We've got our Arsenal Back!"....
Then the Pathetic Capitulation to those ChavWhores in the Europa Cup was the shitty icing on an okay cake.
What I feel cannot be argued is that Arteta (despite all his flaws and his failings, so far) He HAS re-united the Fan base properly and brought back both Belief and Enjoyment , to a level I don't think Emery could have achieved.
Give it 2 seasons and Emery will either be sacked or will leave by Mutual Consent

Re: Managers (merged thread)
ps: I was so hoping they'd keep the dodgy Fucker in charge till we'd played them... A nice 8-Nil raping of thoseCunts without any Lube would ease the wound I still carry from TOF's time in charge.
