In a more worrying development, I've just read something that has linked that lanky, back-turning, one-decent game ever, cowardly German, Mertesacker with the role. He's already involved with the youth set-up at the club and fits the dying days of Wanker ethos that the club seems hell-bent on recreating.

For the record our academy has started producing some real potential quality again so maybe BFG isnt the problem some like to paint him ? My point was that some on here are rolling their eyes at prospect of BFG stepping into edu's role, while I am merely pointing out that he seems to be doing a good job as academy director so maybe deserves a bit more respect ?
What people are going to quickly find out is that (a) most of our transfer policy falls apart at el basque's feet cos the players he wants are not good enough, and the signings he doesnt choose wont get fair game time under him and (b) our academy prospects will have to be at messi's level to get a fair chance under cone boy cos he doesnt trust young players

I did question the other day how edu was just allowed to walk out the door at a days notice, so at least that clears that up. Personally the gardening leave thing is a load of bollox - agree compensation and move on instead of dragging it out
