What a pile of absolute crap. I said ages ago, probably October, that Arteta and this team was done and that it peaked last season. Not one player is performing as well as last season and we look like a different team. Slow, turgid, toothless.
Newcastle are a committed but average side, BUT, they have a serious goal threat up front….we’ve got Havertz. That fucked up header from 6 yds says it all about him. Absolutely fucking useless and nothing condemns Arteta more than that fucking nonsensical signing. I used to say the same about Xhaka, it isn’t Havertz’s fault that he’s useless, it’s the fault of the clown that bought him and refuses to accept it was a huge mistake. Worryingly, he probably still doesn’t think it was a mistake.
Still, the problem is far bigger than Havertz and Jesus, the whole side has lost any creativity. We can’t break teams down and barely test goalkeepers even when we have 60-70% possession, or more.
As welcome as it’s been to have a proper set piece threat, it’s worth remembering that set pieces have dug us out of the shit a number of times this season and disguised the worrying fact that we create too little in open play. Set piece goals should be a bonus, not our main fucking threat. What are we, 1980s Watford or early 2000s Bolton ffs?!!
We’ll win fuck all this season and the trend is entirely in the wrong direction. The manager has had his day and if we do win nothing, then it’s time to say thanks, but goodbye to Arteta at the season’s end. He won’t improve this situation and make us true contenders and as augie often says, we can’t let him blow fortunes on more sub standard crap.
The game’s up.
Agree with a lot of that.....confidence is low and look devoid of any ideas or plan....and basically we have some very poor squad players and when called upon they are not up to it...
Why no fucking striker???? theres no threat.....passing the ball sideways in front of a packed defence, cant think of a player who played well
Rice tried hard but fighting a loosing battle
Even Declan Rice is bang ordinary in a lot of matches this season. He is not one of our weakest links, but he certainly isn't justifying his 100m price tag - for that money I would rather have had Caicedo. He took some time to settle at the chavs but is one of the players of the season in the Premier League so far this year. It rather reminds me of when Wenger chose to sign Clive instead of Kante who had been instrumental in Leicester's title win.
The vital importance of that "engine room" role in the team has never been better illustrated than at City this season. They could have coped far better without Haaland than they have without Rodri.
We would have won if according to Arteta we were not playing with the wrong type of football . Arteta is being compared to the later version of Wenger but I don't think even Wenger would have stooped to time-wasting tactics from the 25 minutes like we did against Brighton. It is embarrassing that we are being reduced to crab football, play-acting and time-wasting.
Arteta: "It's just half time [in the tie]. When I see the team playing and how we deal with a lot of situations, playing against a very good team, I have full belief that we can go out there and do it."
In the same way I have full belief that tonight Miss World is going to finally track me down and beg me to fuck her brains out
Imagine if we do win by 3 goals up there and you suddenly get a knock on your front door.....doubt you'd be in a fit state to do anything by the time you opened it!
Miles Lewis Skelly was excellent yesterday and was probably our best player. He’s originally a midfielder and is very comfortable on the ball playing out from left back. He did a lot more in possession than Odegaard and Partey who just kept passing back to defenders.
I agree Saliba and Gabriel were very shaky. I’m not sure whether Arteta bigging up Isak got into their heads but they gave him far too much space and were not aggressive enough with him. He was their main outlet yet time and time again they allowed him to drift into pockets unchallenged. Ut allowed Newcastle to gain attacking confidence and we looked rattled at the back.
The attack was woeful and at some point Gabriel was playing on the right wing? Martinelli should’ve buried his chance and we had at least 3clear headers we should’ve put away with Havertz the worst culprit. Jesus is back to his old habits after his mini purple patch and consistently wrecks our attack with his foolishness of over dribbling and running into blind alleys. Why are the coaches allowing this nonsense to continue??? He should be taking the fewest touches and learn to bring others into play. The club likes to release training videos of players finishing off chances yet come matchday, they can’t put away a simple chance to save their lives. Our season will be done by the end of January if we don’t inject some life into the attack. This problem existed before Saka’s injury so nothing has changed here.
Fer Feck's sake... he is actually Blaming the Balls Now...(Slightly different design to the one's used in the Prem) ... That is the same kind of thing Wenker would do/say....Funny how Isak and gordon still managed to score with the same fucking ball isn't it!!! He'll Say ANYTHING to avoid admitting why? We Didn't Score!
