Often its said that no strikers are available in the January window but it's apparent from those in the know that Gyokeres, Osimhen, Sesko and one or two others are

So what's the hold up? Doesn't fancy any of them? Rather save all his money for another midfielder like Zubimendi most likely

Honestly, it makes me laugh when stuff drags on till deadline day. You'd have thought a striker would have been lined up for 1st Jan with all the background discussions taking place for weeks previously.

Meanwhile it's cost us two cups and any realistic chance of getting into a proper race with Liverpool

That's the line our fans boys love trotting out - oh its impossible to sign good players in January but yet the victims have done it in the past and citeeh too, so it comes down to how much your club wants to bring in players this month.

Only reason that happened was because Top4 was in jeopardy

There are 2 players we should be looking at and that Sulemana and Dibling of Southampton...The pace and skills of Sulemana is unreal and Dibling is a natural finisher. Southampton are doomed so we should be making an offer for both of them NOW!
If we hadn’t used up our domestic quota for loan signings, it wouldn’t been worth a try but both are too raw to make them permanent signings for me. We need a world class striker now and there is no way around it.
Agreed, but thought those 2 would / could be cheaper options in the short term: this window.
I hear you OBG but I doubt the fans have the patience for untested talent, not least our resident transfer arbiter augie.
By failing to take action in the summer the club has left itself a transfer mountain to climb and must bring in players who can deliver straight away.

Even Liam Delap at Ipswich is a better centre forward than anything we've got

Sadly, it seems that as far as Arteta and his transfer team are concerned, there's never any decent strikers available in the summer window either. :banghead:

This is where fan boys like you let yourselves down - go back through my posts and you will see that I am the one bemoaning the lack of patience the cone boy showed in untested talent like sambi, tavares, marquinos etc, but instead you take lazy option and label me as a critic of the unproven purchases. The biggest criticism for signings I have thrown at the water boy (yes I have demoted him to water boy cos he has less brains than bobby boucher  ), is for the signings of jesus, zinchenko, havertz and sterling - again if you want to read back you will see that I opposed buying them as soon as the rumours started so it isnt as though I was wise after the event. These were all (except fat sterling) big money buys, and are very much in the money wasted category. What I have said many times however, is that whenever we sign a striker (please god let the water boy be sacked first), then that striker has to be top quality and therefore top money - we cant wait for a young player to develop in that position

When Arsenal say they want to win the big prizes, it’s just lip service. The evidence is in what they do in the transfer market. You can talk all you like but actions speak louder than words. If you genuinely think Chelsea and City cast offs as a strike force win you the League then you need professional help.

That’s exactly what I was thinking SteveO. Skilful around the box and not scared to get a shot away. Just wonder what Ipswich would want for him?

Strong lad who holds the ball up well too. In a better side with more attacking options around him, I think he would be a half decent option

You can't bemoan lack of patience with untested talent and then turn around and criticise the players who helped dig us out of a hole. You demand high standards but want us to persist with unproven talent. How does this make sense? When we signed Jesus and Zinchenko, we were in level 10 and trying to get to level 1. Given the sort of cesspit we found ourselves in, we were never going to attract quality players straight away. Both were signed in their prime for hardly exhorbitant transfer fees so, so rather turn your noses up at them, you should thank them for helping our revival. Jesus didn't have many critics in 2022 and spearhdeaded our faux title challenge until he picked up an injury in December. We've outgrown these players and need better quality. That's the nature of football. City did the same several years ago when they suddenly became wealthy and acquired a load of Wenger's players.
I wouldn't have signed Havertz and Jorginho personally but I can see the rationale why they were signed. Sterling is a loan move so low risk.

Ipswich know they're fucked (relegated) so may as well cash in on him now....
