Chants Would Be A Fine Thing

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

How about this Beatles classic to sum up the mood of lots of gooners:

Help, we need somebody
Help, not just anybody
Help, you know we need someone
Help

We're getting younger, so much younger every day
And all the boys that Wenger signs,
Are for another day

As for defence, it makes some fans feel in-secure
It only takes, a long through ball
For the other team to score

Help us Wenger please, we're feeling down
Al-though we do ap-pre-ci-ate you being a-round
You know we need ex-pe-ri-ence to make up ground
Won't you please make signings, (signings, signings).

For Cesc Fabregas to the tune of 'It Must Be Love' by Madness:

"I never thought I'd love you,
half as much, as I do
And I never thought I'd feel this way,
the way I feel, about you

As soon as I know that, you are cer-tain to play
I get so ex-ci-ted coz, I know we'll win to-day

It must be Cesc, Cesc, Cesc,
It must be Cesc, Cesc, Cesc,
It must be Cesc, Cesc, Cesc,
Nothing more, nothing less
Fab is the best!!"

On the Madness theme (and taking inspiration from some of the lyrics to IHH's Thong Song) how about this for either Song, Diaby or (fingers crossed) a new Essien-ish midfield signing before the end of the summer to Our House In The Middle Of Our Street http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KEdZrV0j6zM :

Changing...

Father wears his Sunday best
Mothers tired she needs a rest
The kids are playing up downstairs
Sisters sighing in her sleep
Brothers got a date to keep
He cant hang around

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our…

to...

Arsenal canon on his chest
Playing like a man possessed
He brings the best out of our Cesc
Arsene bought him on the cheap
Your Gerrard’s, Hargreaves you can keep
We’ve got Alex Song

Brick shithouse, in the middle of our side
Shithouse, and he wears the badge with pride
Shithouse, in the middle of our side
Shithouse, watch United* run and hide

* or "the Scousers/the y****s/etc" depending on whoever we're playing.

Just as we seem to have cracked a tune for Eduardo I've come up with another one!

It's simple but effective and I reckon there will be loads of songs sung to this tune around the grounds this season.

It's to the tune of the end bit of viva la vida by Coldplay where it goes -

"Ooooh Oooh Oooh Ooooh Oooh Oooh"

Just substitute -

"Eduardoooooh...........Eduardoooooh!"

Won't sing any song that involves a Colplay tune. Utter cack.

Give me the Lambrettas anthem any day.

How about a bit of Chas and Dave - London Girl.

I know what you guys are going to say, they were tottenham fans why do we want to sing a song sung by them, but here goes.

Our number 4 is the best in the world,
There ain’t no doubt about it,

If you can’t find a player from another town, your just have to leave without it,

The boy creates, if the game’s still late, when you’re kicking the bedroom door,

And he won’t mess around, if your 1-0 down as Hargreaves hits the floor.

Give us our number 4 every time, It doesn’t take us long to make up our minds, Gives us our number 4 every time, I want our number four.

Listen from 1.38 onwards, goes best with that verse.

Used this song before for Cesc but didn’t really work so thought maybe it would be better as an Arsenal song. Just added a verse and changed the last line of the chorus from the Cesc version really.

To Champagne Supernova… [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3C7DECI ... re=related ]

Oasis lyrics:

How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you when we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a canon ball
Where were you when we were getting high?

Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landsliiide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landsliiide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Gooner version:

So many glory-hunters change
Clubs but a Gooner I remain
Where were you when we were getting by?
Stand up for the Ar-se-nal
Echoes through the Marble Hall
Where were you when we were getting by?

Red shirt with the white sleeve
Canon on the left siiide
In a Gooner supernova in the sky
Red shirt with the white sleeve
Canon on the left siiide
In a Gooner supernova
A Gooner supernova in the sky

Just thought even more than songs for any given player (although we need those too) we could really do with a song to express how much it means to be a Gooner and (hopefully) get that point across to the players & the johnny-come-lately-must-dash-before-the-end-so-I-don’t-have-to-queue-with-the-plebs-for-the-train brigade.

Inspired by the 'Hleb Says AW is the Daddy' thread title, how about this to the tune of 'Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy' by King Creole and the Coconuts:

Oh A-de,
We've got no money (no money, got no money)
Oh A-de,
Don't be like Flammy (Fla-money, Matt Fla-money)
So if you're after £100 grand
Then you can fuck right off to Barca!!

Alright alright I'm just trying to get a bit of originality into the Gooner songs again.

We used to be famous for them!! (think Red Army/ 1- nil to theArsenal/ Thierry Henry/ Vieira). As a club we need to lead and let the other club,s fans follow.

We sometimes struggle at home purely due to the lack of atmosphere. We need to keep it fresh re new songs!!

Fair enough. It would really be great to have a sort of starter on here - to popularize all the good, oringinal songs. First tthe Eddie song, noxt, well... ...another one. I have just listened to the Lambrettas, and I'm sorry, it is very catchy. Apology given, :?: :?: :banghead: :barscarf: I was not exactly at full thingking capabilities there.
