Shit performance but three points. Not much to say that we didn't know already. Sterling is shit and should never come near playing again. The lack of any goalscoring threat is mor than a worry.
I've been nothing but critical of Merino since we signed him, calling him a nothing player, but the game changed as soon as he came on today. Never played as a CF before, but two very good finishes, especially the second one. Hopefully Arteta saw enough to start him up front in the next game. No guarantees it will work, but it certainly wasn't working with the front three we started with today.
One thing I'll guarantee you....Havertz ain't finishing those two chances. Fuck knows what row the second chance would have ended up in.
Massive credit to merino for showing the drive and courage to be in those positions to take those chances
Credit too to Nwanieri who was outstanding all game
However it needs to be said that sterling should never play for the club ever again, and partey, captain invisible and pussy trossard were all horrendous at times today, and even timber showed a disgraceful laziness in tracking back from one of partey's shit passes We know that struggling to score against a team heading down does not bode well for the tough fixtures we have coming, but we'll enjoy today for what it was
I love the Warhurst comparison - those of us that remember his spell up front for sheffield wednesday still smile when thinking about how unbelievable it was, and if merino had a spell as good as he had then maybe he could fire us to glory
Poor performance but a good win in the end Sterling should never wear our storied jersey ever again FFS he is utter shite... Conference(south) level and that's being generous..Anyway a wins a win and all that..From tiny acorns..
