With the captain's arm band, I think he'll rise to be an even better player and will undoubtedly, be the best LB in the world. I believe he's an Arsenal man and he played at the club for 5-6 years now, so why not?
Anyone else thinks Gael can be our captain?
Clichy for captain
Personally, I'd go for Cesc, but many people disagree. Clichy would definitely be a great alternative, though I am a bit of a traditionalist about the position the captain plays: I always think it should be a centre-back or a central midfielder. But you're right, Clichy has excactly the right character, and certainly was on the wrong end of some shit captaincy at Birmingham last season, so he'll know how not to behave in order to motivate team-mates.

I don't think he'd be a bad choice but I wonder if he has the respect of the others. I remember reading somewhere that he is often the butt of peoples jokes in the dressing room. Not in a nasty way but nonetheless it could comprimise his authority as captain.
I wouldn't want Cesc to carry that burden either. I think Kolo would be a good choice but I cannot see AW stripping Gallas of the honour.

I personally don't see Gael as a captain. I think the added pressure may hinder his game. I also think that, while he is a fantastic player, he hasn't really shown leadership qualities. He doesn't seem to be the loudest man out there.
I'd stick with Willy personally. Obviously his antics at Birminham were awful, but that came from pure frustration and showed how much he cared. Other than that I think he's a good leader, always fights and always take it upon himself to win us points that look unlikely, shown by the important goals he bagged last season.

Gael seems too quiet for my liking, that said he seems a strong chahracter and level headed (in the most part - yes there were a couple of errors last season!). Not sure he would command the respect and authority of some.
For me it would be too much for Cesc - Toure seems to be the ideal candidate. I also agree, however, unless Gallas leaves I can not see AW changing it - but hopes he does!
