CL qualifier

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

CL qualifier

Post by Chippy »

The draw is next Friday. By then the second qualifying rounds will only have played one leg so we will still be uncertain who we will get. It does look a bit of a mare whoever we get as there are a chunk of good teams in there,

Rangers,
Sparta Prague,
Fenerbahce,
Anderlecht,
Panathinaikos
Dinamo Kyiv

or teams in god awful places that will be difficult to get to/from

Inter Baki Azerbaijan
Sherrif Moldova
Beitar Jerusalem
Bate Borisov Belarus
Dinamo Tbilisi Georgia

One that would be interesting but highly unlikely is Drogheda. Can you imagine the craic if Arsenal were to play in Ireland. :corkbarry: :db10_1: :db10_2: :tricolour:

we all know we're gonna get Sparta Prague anyway.

Will hopefully be heading out for the away leg of the qualifiers, unless we get one of the shitty places that you mentioned. Fuck playing in Glasgow aswell that's worse than any backward Soviet bloc country.

Wouldn't mind a trip to eastern europe but only one the decent countries.

Does anyone know if the seeded team play at home first cause if we're away first i can't go

half the seeded teams will be at home first, as for drogeda , well they must win there next round and there ground isnt fit for cl games so would be moved to dalymount park which holds about 15000

Yes "Clubs from the same association cannot be drawn together" so we can't get the Scousers but anyone else is OK.

Chippy mate. I hate to criticise, but how do Glasgow Rangers qualify as useful side?

Given our propensity to slip up against weak opposition I would not be so confident.  :goalie:

DD I am thinking purely as a UK based fan travelling to a midweek game. Going to Jerusalem would be expensive and wipe out 3 days as would the others in that list. The longer journeys are also more disruptive to the team.

Everything is seeded (fixed  ) so we can't meet them at this stage. Look forward to knocking them out in the quarters. :barscarf:
