A quick search online this morning came up with these:Bradywasking wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 6:06 amHave we had the first mention of the " Warchest" this Spring.?

We'll get two midfielders from a mid-table Spanish team, three back-up goalkeepers, one Chav reject and no striker because Havertz is back from hi s injury. No point even thinking about it.

Wouldn't say no he's a good player.
We need to avoid any and all contact with real madrid where possible for next few seasons cos any conversation we have with them will open the door for them to try to sign saliba - as we know all too well, when one of the big two clubs in spain want one of our players, they dont need us to agree a deal with them and all they need to do is put in a decent bid and it will unsettle the player and all of a sudden one of our best players has left the club

Salibas mind is already at RM, you can tell.
Sad thing to say but if he doesn't sign an extension this summer then time to cash in rather than drag it out.

Although i will be shouted down , i would offer him to citeh for Mong . I would think there is no way citeh would go for it. But Saliba whilst being good isn't the world beater we all thought he was.

I laughed at my brother when he said Gabriel makes saliba looks better than he is.shu wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 10:27 amNatural Born Gooner wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 8:47 amSalibas mind is already at RM, you can tell.

I used to say it was the other way round. Gabriel certainly has had some terrible brainfart displays. But now tbh I think your brother might be right!IW8Goalmachine wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 10:46 amI laughed at my brother when he said Gabriel makes saliba looks better than he is.shu wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 10:27 amNatural Born Gooner wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 8:47 amSalibas mind is already at RM, you can tell.

As a long time saliba advocate I have to say that I aint having any of that - yes he has had two brain farts lately that have cost us, BUT the man is a rolls royce of a defender and playing in a team in disarray at the mo. Sometimes it isnt as straight forward as gabriel making him look better than he is, but more a case of the familiarity they have from playing so long together that they know where the other person is at all times, and not having him there is throwing him off even though kiwor has done nothing wrong since coming into the team.
I will say though, that the man needs to massively improve his composure when he has the ball at his feet cos honestly it is shocking watching him in possession - I reallty for the life of me cannot understand why the spanish dick in goals keeps passing the ball to him cos he is shitting himself everytime it comes to him
If he truly wants to be the best defender in the world, then he needs to up his game in this regard - Kiwor is braver in possession than him and will step forward with the ball on occasions, but saliba shits himself and passes back to raya who passes it back to him and its rinse and repeat. I compared this shit to psg defenders last week and were not afraid to go long and turn our defence around, but we seem to think we must play every ball out to feet and there is zero pragmatic view at all - most of that is on manager and his lack of flexibility on tactics, but fcuk me the players have to take responsibility as well

You're spot on Augie. I'd love to see that stats on Saliba's passing but I bet he goes backwards or sideways 75% of the time. He infuriates me.
He's a great defender but on the ball he's a coward. All the bollocks about Madrid is generated by the Madrid media, it's what they do. Just tell them 150m or fuck off, then go and buy Huijsen from Bournemouth for 50m, top player.

Here we are, was wondering how long after last night's defeat we'd be hearing about major signings
Arsenal will back Mikel Arteta heavily in the summer window as they target major shake-up: new striker, winger and more plus outgoings. The pressure on to deliver top players after two bad windows

OUT:
Odegaard,
Zinchenko
Partey
Trossard
Tomiyasu
Tierney (already leaving)
Jorginho
Jesus
Viera
Lokonga
Tavares
Reiss Nelson
Marquinhos
Havertz
Neto and Sterling leaving following their loan.
I wouldn't be against Kiwior leaving on loan, as I think the guy could be a squad CB in the future, but not at the expense of no one else coming in at the back.
Martinelli I'm on the fence about leaving, but I'd certainly replace him in the starting XI.

Just look at that list of players that you are suggesting need to go (I agree btw) - all bar 3 are cone boy signings and yet people are arguing that the club have let him down, or that he should get this summer to bring in necessary additions

Hi all.
We need two strikers. Even if one comes in with all the bells & whistles, what happens if he gets an AFC customary long injury lay off? We're back to square one just like like now. I've never known a club to have zero strikers in their squad. Inexcusable.
It's gonna cost a small fortune to sort this squad out. Can you see the board paying out millions?

The board, to their credit, have backed pep's cone boy to the tune of almost £800m thus far and have been "rewarded" with zero trophies (he won the fa cup with emery's players) - the board shouldnt give him any more money to spend cos he will piss it away. I have hated kroenke's from day one and never wanted them in our club (I was in usmanov's corner), but the narrative today saying that they are all about the money doesnt seem right when they backed his £800m spending - backing a proven failure with even more money is a recipe for disaster and I will point the finger of blame at them if they do that
