I read somewhere that Cunha 'walked' the most on the pitch last season in the PL. Great player, shit temperament and lazy bastard...... Made for United, never going to play for Arsenal!!

Let's face it, we NEED two strikers as we have none but I sincerely doubt the club would do the right thing and sign two :banghead:

I hope we get Sesko and not Gyokeres, the latter doesn't score with his head..... Not great when you play with two wingers and rely a lot on set pieces!!

Sporting vice-president Francisco Salgado Zenha says the club are yet to receive any offers for Viktor Gyokeres.

Two things -

1. The majority of goals are scored with the feet, so I would much rather someone who scores frequently with their feet, than someone who is better in the air.

2. We (like most teams) play with wingers on what I would call their wrong side - left footed winger on right wing, and a right footed winger on left wing. Because of that we simply dont cross the ball much, and instead depend on our wingers cutting inside and shooting, or cutting inside and sliding passes through. If you think back I think you will agree that the only time we knocked in the type of crosses (from open play) that are headed in, was when saka was injured and martinelli was on the right wing and he knocked in some deadly crosses. Even tierney used to knock in good crosses but he is gone and lewis-skelly like everyone else drifts inside. To get the benefit of "an aerial presence" like you want, we would need to change our tactics to suit him, and as much as I would like us to be more flexible in our tactics, I feel that changing them this way is a backwards move. I would also argue that on a lot of occasions, the movement of the striker is what makes the cross, and the more natural striker will have better off the ball movement imo

I do take your point about the set piece goals and sesko being more suited, but imo we are already too dependent on set piece goals and need more goals from open play lest we go full blown pulis stoke

Lokonga's contract was due to expire this summer, but Arsenal had the option to extend it by a further 12 months. That has been taken up.

Why on earth would they do this, unless it is so they can sell him on and actually get some of the (wasted) money back. I'm not saying he is a Bad player or No Good or whatever as I remember him coming on as a Sub (I think) for his first appearance (at LB?) and being impressed with his ability to:
Tackle
Drive forward with the ball and help create chances
Being strong physically

Then a short while later he came on (Maybe he started I don't recall .. it was that long ago) and having an absolute nightmare and being hooked.

That's the only reason I can think of as well. About time we Upped our game in the Transfer Market... Maybe Berta is starting to sort thing out!? Time will tell I guess.

Think Saka and Martinelli are well capable of putting over good crosses, but yes both often try to play to floor....probably because theres no one in the middle as a target man who can take advantage....getting the right new signings will be crucial

He'll be announced in the third week of August, then.

Might be! I dunno... we saw so little of both of those Arteta signings, I forget which is which. :?
